A once-emerging writer, Soo-Yeon is now making a living by working as an assistant scriptwriter for a great box-office hit maker, Moh. Despite repeating cheesy stories full of stereotypical characters, Moh wants to constantly believe his film to have something new and to be based on the reality. That makes Moh as well as Soo-Yeon feel exhausted. Soo-Yeon carefully dreams to emancipate characters from story, but she realizes that her dream is only treated as a 'feminine' vanity in reality.

Although the title and cover for the film point to the more shocking aspects of this expository piece, at the heart of the film is a personal love for nature, genuine concern for fellow citizens, and an appreciation for humanity's most precious natural resource, clean drinking water. It is something so easily taken for granted, and yet so essential to life itself. Gasland is an informative, touching, and thought-provoking film.

The cast is fantastic - Tony Curtis is back again after his earlier turn as The Great Leslie, this time as the dafter Chester Schofield and this time around has Susan Hampshire as his love interest instead of Natalie Wood. It's great to see good old Terry Thomas, and Eric Sykes and Gert "Goldfinger" Frobe are a laugh too, and that's just the tip of the iceberg - all the characters are brilliant. Entertaining all the way through. The cars may be old fashioned but the ability to make you laugh is not.

(de) wrote: Brainless, but well done and quite compelling.

I wasn't expecting the comedic elements, most of which fell flat, and the idea that the borderline swishy director can be such a casual asshole to everyone without someone finally standing up and beating his ass like a drum is a bit far-fetched to me.Perhaps for the zombie completist?
