The stylistic flourishes certainly take a while to grow on you, but once they do, you're in for a pretty solid adventure. For one, the movie knows it has a lot of ground to cover and moves at a click not normally seen in movies. Scenes typically dwelled on eternally, are skimmed over much to the joy of the audience (or maybe just me). Some action sequences are better than others. Though, there's always a certain joy in seeing a guy release a cloud of deadly attack bees, and then seeing another guy slice them in half, with a sword, at hyper-speeds. Only thing is, there's a noticeable cleft between when our heroes solve the mystery, and when they actually go out and get the bad guy. Sadly, once the mystery is gone the intrigue goes with it. --6.4/10--

The principals are charming, all professing love for the Bohemian experience while desperately trying to leave it behind.

Nips C (gb) wrote: This movie was amazing, with quality jokes every few minutes, and near episodic style enemies coming for them one at a time. Bounced on my boy to this for hours (actually for 94 minutes). I'd highly recommend this to my friends and hope that you all find as much enjoyment in a genera that seems to perpetuate stereotypes as I do.Vote El Bama 2K16

Michael T (au) wrote: Blame the recent (1980) death of the great Alfred Hitchcock or blame the success of "Hitchcokian" Thrillers like Road Games and Dressed To Kill, the early-mid 1980s saw a number of these films end up in the theaters and later on home video. They don't make thrillers like this anymore, with a slow buildup of suspense and a skillfully laid-out plot that challenges the viewer's imagination. That is a pity. The film has tons of Hitchcock elements, a dream sequence to be analyzed by psychiatrists, a "ice-cold" Hitchcock blonde (played by Meryl Streep), a distrust of the police, and references to Hitch's films ranging from Spellbound to The Birds (I suspect that Jessica Tandy was cast as Roy Scheider's mother because she had been in The Birds). Its also a nice, short film at 1 hour and 31 minutes. I picked the Blu-Ray as john Kenneth Muir had reviewed it favorably in his Horror Films Of The 1980s two-volume set, due to the skillful Thriller elements worthy of Hitchcock and due to the truly nightmarish dream sequence.
