Matt S (it) wrote: An highly suspenseful, maybe too much for its own good, sometimes brutal and disturbing slasher that had over acting to just plain bad acting but it still managed to be a thrilling and entertaining ride. I thought the mask of the killer was very menacing but simple but everytime I saw it gave me the chills. There was a few good chase and stalk sequences that kept me on the edge of my seat and a few effective jump scares. What I really appreciated about this movie is that it focused more on suspense and terror than over the top, gory kills unlike the recent theaterical released slashers Halloween 2 and The Final Destination. Again the acting wasn't the best but everyone still came off as likable and worth rooting for except for the guy that played the cop and dad, he was just plain awful. The very ending to me didn't make much sense at all but I really didn't see it coming but it wasn't the greatest ending ever and maybe too complicated for it's own good. Overall if you like old school slashers this is for you but don't expect the greatest acting in this one but it's still way better than some recent slashers lately. Check it out!

Edgar C (it) wrote: The last controversial classic by a master of cinema, which deals with the process of loss of human dignity, timeless passion and regret, and of course, desire. The direction is spectacular and the acting by Fernando Rey is absolutely stunning. The film is a must see and an intriguing work, depressing, shocking and ultimately devastating. A rare gem ahead of its time. Almodvar was the Spanish filmmaker destined to inherit this particular terrain.88/100

Bruce Willis is great as the tired beat down detective who is just trying to make it through another day, and Mos Def works well (although is sometimes hard to understand because of the way his character talks) as the criminal that talks about change and cakes a lot, well, that and 4 people, a car, a bus stop and a hurricane, (If you have seen the movie you know what I mean). Although the plot seems fairly far fetched, it still seems to work, that and the fact that much of this movie was shot in Toronto and I knew most of the places (fought against a traffic ticket in the court house used at the end of the movie) just made me enjoy it that much more.Oh, just in case you were wondering, I lost trying to fight the ticket, stupid traffic laws.

Spielberg borrows heavily from The Conversation, moralizes some, and falls into typical Spielbergian emoting by the end of it. This is the work so highly regarded? Or is it the political sympathies? Better to see the aforementioned film.
