Intentionally aimless and pretentious in the extreme, I was embarrassed for the filmmakers watching this. Bill Murray is as bad in this one as he was good in Lost in Translation, the performance is 1 3/4 hours of deadpan mugging for the camera. Like many art films, this one seemed more like an art instillation. Still not as obnoxious as a Wes Anderson movie.
Marcus W (gb) wrote: Personally, I don't believe Infernal Affairs needed a sequel, but nonetheless...a prequel was the best way to go, showing the audience the rise to power of the four main characters - yet this also kills some of the tension: more than once Sam is in danger, but you already know he survives. There's still a few surprises, and if you loved the first one it's worth a watch.
Josiah S (au) wrote: An absolutely amazing film about a historical event. It was very accurate to the actual story and extremely well done as a movie. The acting from Bernhard Bettermann was amazing and the rest of the cast incredible also. The cinematography was awesome and it's amazing how they can make a snow covered nothing beautiful in the footage. Great movie for any historian as well as any movie goer!
Ricardo H (us) wrote: This is definitely what I would call a mediocre low-budget film. There are just too many things that barely reach the okay level to make it a good film (and even a low budget can turn out an amazing movie). The acting was average at best, the script seemed like it was written from a children's book, and the dialogue was not inspired. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE!

I saw this for the first time when I was quite young, I think my dad wished he'd known how weird it would get, or he probably wouldn't have let me watch it with him.Whilst there is a riotous strike going on outside the hospital there is weirdness going on inside, as an eccentric doctor performs some truly sadistic acts on his patients to fulfill his own ambitions. Its full of faces any 30-plus British audience will recognise, and if you're an Orbital fan you'll love the speech at the end which they sampled for Snivilisation.A cult black comedy, with some quite horrific bits in, its quintessentially British, but definitely not in the vain the Full Monty or Four Wedding.
Christopher B (mx) wrote: Touching story about love, affairs, and wisdom born from allowing relationships to come full circle. Bergman plays a successful woman (with a wise young maid) who is in a comfortable relationship with Montand, who under appreciates her. Enter Perkins as a bored, talented, and rich young man yearning for the love of an older woman - just not anyone too like his mother. Thus is begun a menage a trois guaranteed to put everyone's heart through the wringer. Don't watch if you dislike Brahms!
