Dawn K (nl) wrote: This was a horrible movie that I could not finish. Not even the cast could save this tripe-filled piece of garbage. Ugh.

Billy M (ag) wrote: To those who said this ending was good: You're nothing short of retarded. The ending is just surprising. And why is it surprising? Because it makes no god damn sense. This movie is abysmal, I was going to write a sarcastic review of it saying it was amazing but the fact that anyone would ever believe that this movie had any redeeming quality about it is just offensive. If all you want to see is naked women and bad acting go watch a real pornographic movie. This piece of absolute garbage has nothing redeeming about it whatsoever.

His good friend Mikey Chalmette (Scott Wilson) is in need of money and asks Johnny if he could be part of one of Johnnys heists. Mickey brings two shady characters, Sunny Boyd (Ellen Barkin) and Rafe Garrett (Lance Henriksen), along for the heist and during the robbery Johnny and Mikey are double-crossed by Sunny and Rafe. Mikey is killed and Johnny sent to prison. While in prison, Johnny is invited to a rehabilitation program, where Dr. Steven Fischer (Forest Whitaker) rebuilds Johnny's face and helps Johnny get paroled. Johnny starts working in a shipyard, where he meets Donna McCarty (Elizabeth McGovern) and starts a romance. The detective Lt. A.Z. Drones (Morgan Freeman) knows Johnny from way back and follows his rehabilitation with a very skeptical mindset. Johnnys new life is eventually consumed by the desire of payback...Liked this Walter Hill flick when it came out in 1990. And I still like it. Good story and a great cast with so many solid actors/actresses in the same movie in a mix with some classic Walter Hill action. Made me wonder what has happen to the quite charming Elizabeth McGovern? And it is a shame that Mickey Rourke did not really take care of his career and himself back in the 90s. One can only wonder how his career had developed then. Even if he has made a bit of a comeback the past years. I have even red the novel "The Three Worlds of Johnny Handsome" by John Godey which the script was based on, and I like the novel as well. "Johnny Handsome" is not too shabby.
Andrew S (br) wrote: A nice slice of eoghties cheese but with a touch of miserabilism. i have a bit of a soft spot for these British eighties films with the over the top charecters, bad hair, utterly awful clothes and a heavy use of foul language. If it was up to me I would have pissed off to Russia in the eighites rather than withering away in the decay Liverpool back then. ( special thanks to the Guardian newspaper for giving away these cheesy films on a weekend). What happened to Margi Clarke, Alfred Molina went on to become Dr Octopuss and peter Firth is the grump one off Spooks.
