jeroen v (fr) wrote: good story, but not a classic. Feels rushed and doesn't manage quite to get the Aboriginal story across. It lacks that bite, like in 'birdwatchers' when the ranchero berates the indian for not being productive, for not cultivating the land in order to feed the world, and the Indian taking a handful of soil in reply and eating that in front of the white man. That kind of punch is what this movie needs also, but is lacking. Usually Herzog puts stuff like that in, so he's a bit off his game here.

Definitely a stomping ground for dirty old men everywhere and what was really off-putting was that everybody in the movie was casual about the fact that this dude was banging his best friend's teenage daughter. Ugh.

Sure, it is only average, but people need to relax...there are REAL bad movies out there. This one just had a few problems.
