Sean S (ca) wrote: Fully unnecessary and attempting to be as charismatic and demented as the original, the English setting as Catherine's new haunt doesn't help fully convince either. Sharon Stone's return is also not as beneficial as one might be led to believe, spouting the same "Did I or didn't I" come-ons she did in Paul Verhoeven's superior predecessor. The franchise was probably better left alone, considering this film also pretty much ends with the same result the first did.
Berneta H (jp) wrote: I will not accuse this film of liberal bias, since that is a term wholly created by our overwhelmingly conservative media industry. I will say that I agree with the message of this film, that our country is rapidly going down the toilet and indeed Orwell (as well as many others) would roll in his grave. Ever since I witnessed Bush attempt to change the "War on Terror" (an already repugnantly paradoxical phrase) to the "Global Effort Against Extremism," I knew we'd entered a grim Orwellian era in our country's history.
Bathsheba M (ru) wrote: Pleasant evening watching this DVD. Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons are splendid. The costumes are wonderful. The weak link--and it's a pretty big crack because the whole story revolves around it--is that the story starts out with Julia saying she wants something new and different and then proceeds to revert to her younger self which is old hat. What she really wanted was to stop growing old. Then, in the end she discovers she doesn't mind being alone and growing old because she has other qualities. I guess the movie accomplished what it set out to do, but perhaps the whole theme is too nuanced for a movie. I definitely think the chemistry between Julia and her young paramour was ridiculously unbelievable.

Ashley H (ag) wrote: Spice World is a decent film. It is about world famous pop group The Spice Girls zip around London in their luxurious double decker tour bus. The spice girls give good performances. The script has some funny moments but is a little slow in places. Bob Spiers did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor.

Myke D (fr) wrote: A slightly stereotypical performance by Clint in irascible 'gruff' mode. However even though he doesn't want to change, his estranged daughter comes to his rescue, and he eventually learns to accept her as both a daughter and a skilled scout in her own right. Justin is really only there for the love interest role, which he performs reasonably enough in a brash fashion. Overall still a great film for a wintery afternoon which will cheer you up. Great cameos too from Robert Patrick & John Goodman.
