David L (ca) wrote: 6/10, but a strong 6/10 at that, given that it exceeded all expectations I had of this. I liked the relatively simple but captivating concept surrounding a middle aged couple that are having trouble trying for a baby. The husband is particularly reluctant to admit that he may be impotent, and despite agreeing to go for tests at a sperm clinic, he fears what the results will show. Knowing he is hiding the outcome from her, the wife becomes angry at the lack of trust, and in her emotional state, ends up having sex with a relative stranger, a young boy who has recently started working nearby. Of course, despite attempting to stop the act, she is too late and ends up falling pregnant, leading us to ponder who the father is. The husband becomes overjoyed at the thought of his successful equipment, whilst the lover gets enraged with jealousy as all around him are celebrating the pairs joyous news. As a result, He begins stalking the woman, eventually leading to psychotic consequences. I really do think it has done well to produce such a movie based on what is seemingly a low budget production, and the actors who are all unfamiliar to me, do a good job, combining Australian and Irish cultures together for maximum effect. I did feel the ending was a tad predictable and I became annoyed at the fact that several questions were left unanswered ie what happened to the baby, who was the father, and did the couple ever get back together? It annoys me when this happens as I like all pieces of the jigsaw to be completed. Despite this, I would still recommend the film as its good for what it is, although it comes across as more of a drama than a horror flick, but I would definitely prefer to see ten more of these, than one blockbuster that would cost just the same to produce.

Frances H (de) wrote: So much more than a martial arts film, although it is a superb one of that genre too. This film has it all--gorgeous cinematography of the beauty of China, wonderful combat scenes that to my mind are much better than the Crouching Tiger school, because they are much more believable, but foremost a redemptive journey through life to discover the true meaning of honor and the senselessness of violence, revenge and winning without honor at any price. A great film all around.
