Her acting was as good and as fun to watch as ever. She does a great job playing the title character as a cunning sociopath. How much that resembles the real historical Lizzie Borden is more than I can say, but I would not mistake this movie as a documentary. As a period drama, this movie looks very good. Though it's a little slow, I was never bored.I would suggesting reading the overview of the historical murder in Wikipedia to help separate fact from fiction. In many ways this is an interesting dramatization, but it does embellish the story. The one thing I didn't like about this movie was the really obnoxious, bizarrely anachronistic country rock sound track. Listening to too-loud twangy rock while watching characters go about their business in an 1892 period drama was just so weird. At times I thought they were using that music to try to appeal to a teenage audience, and at times I thought they were using it to try to make Lizzie Borden seem like a modern sociopathic murderer, a century ahead of her time. I would have preferred period music as faithful as the costumes and set design, which were well done. If you like Christina Ricci, and you like period dramas, see it!

(us) wrote: Downfall is an intense portrayal of Hitler and Germany in the final days of the Third Reich, told from the point-of-view of Hitler's secretary. Hitler is portrayed not as a monster, but as a human (although a psychotic one). The film is frightening, tragic and sickening. Excellent overall.

(nl) wrote: Science fiction about a trip to Mars from the glorious Soviet Socialists Republics wherein a science noodler with marriage problems longs for a better life abroad ... way, way abroad. Despite being released in 1929 everything has stood the test of time very well. The acting is as naturalistic as anything modern even if the style is dated, and the look and feel of the advanced civilisation on Mars ain't too far from the best of Art Deco. And yes, silent. But that means yer lazy imagination has to get up and, uh, imagine for a change. Worth a look.

(ag) wrote: This is an epic documentary about the legendary reggae musician, Bob Marley, as told through archival footage and interviews with friends, family and colleagues. The documentary starts with his parents before going onto Jamaican independence and the how and why of reggae's distinctive sound, as I also learned a good deal about Jamaican politics in the bargain. While Marley goes from rags to riches in his musical career, the nation of Jamaica also comes of age. But after all of that, Marley still remains somewhat of an elusive figure, even though you could say that he was Jamaica and that Jamaica is Bob Marley.
