Reussi malgre pas mal de cliches et de naivete, mais moins tout de meme qu'un Forest Gump dans un style il est vrai un peu different.

Here, Virginia(Melissa Sue Anderson) is having serious blackouts and is repressing a trauma that occured a year before hand, it all ties to her birthday party and those who did not arrived, they are done in in grusome fashion. In movies like this back in the day it's well directed by a legendary director ready for a comeback, J. Lee Thompson(the original Cape Fear) and a season vet to give it "credibility" Glenn Ford(the original 3:10 to Yuma)but overall, not a bad entry to the slasher genre.

Scott C (us) wrote: Best Sword Fight Of All Time! This early John Woo film has a special place in my heart, for having what I consider to be one of the greatest swordfights ever committed to celluloid. The fight is long - my guess would be 5 minutes. It's the perfect length. You have just the right amount of time to soak it all fully enjoy the deadly dance, but just before it gets boring, it's over. Not only is the length perfect, but it's perfectly placed in the film...I never timed it, but it feels like it's smack dab in the middle. It breaks the film into two parts and creates a neat symmetry between the beginning and the end of the movie. The fighting in this film has an unnatural rhythm, but it's somehow hypnotic. the sword swishes and clangs sound like the 'tick, tock' of a clock. John Woo was definitely experimenting with his theme of 'violence as a beautiful ballet'. The story was based on a novel by Louis Cha. If anyone knows where I can buy english translations of his novels, please let me know. I'm dying to read them!

Tony U (de) wrote: This movie reminds me of cinematically what it would be like to see an Alban Berg piano sonata. Cacaphonous, painful, sadistically humorous, disturbing and even helpless. The movie is about a coward who is the person we're supposed to be siding with. The classic weak protagonist who is given the most attention: a poor carpenter who has been given the daunting task of "aryanating a local Jewish shop" owned by an older woman who can hardly hear. Because this Carpenter doesn't have the heart to tell her that Jews aren't allowed to own businesses anymore as the Nazi's have taken over the city and have established anti-semitic laws, he acts as if he's just there to help her out. To add to the comedy of errors, the carpenter's wife is proud of him for taking this "promotion". He of course is trapped by ethical dilema that he is usurping power from a helpless old Jewish woman because of the opportunism created by Nazi hatred. He of course, is a drunk, which makes his weak character even weaker. The movie never really climaxes, but only gets darker and darker
