Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus revolves around Cleetus (Mammootty), a dreaded long-haired rogue. He surprises the parish priest (Siddique) by his uncanny resemblance to Jesus Christ in looks and mannerisms. He is roped in by the priest for the role of Jesus Christ for a light and sound show for their upcoming festival. His real self comes to the fore during rehearsals. The fact that he is a goon is revealed, yet the priest decides to persist with him in the belief that the experience of performing the noble character will lead to his transformation. Things change in the life of Cleetus after that. Events that occurred in the life of Jesus Christ start occurring in the life of Cleetus too. What happens to Cleetus and the people surrounding him form the rest of the story.
Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus tells the story of a "thug" named Cleetus who is asked by a parish priest, who does not know about his background, to play the role of Jesus Christ in a play. During the film, events in the life of Cleetus start to mirror events portrayed about Jesus life in the Bible. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki
Bill R (au) wrote: I attempted to watch this as a Netflix suggestion. I don't usually look at how they are rated because most people watch major movies and rate the b ones low. this however gets a low rating due to acting and the effects look fake, along with a story that moves really fast and if you aren't paying close attention, you will lose what is going on in about 10 seconds. not worth while.

Ron H (ag) wrote: An enjoyable outing for Tom Selleck. He is at his best when giving a light almost comedic delivery of a character that could have been easily been over done. Alan Rickman and Laura San Giacomo both provide the extra chemistry and quips to make this movie enjoyable anytime you watch it.

David S (de) wrote: It seems director Robert Benton has been inspired by the great Alfred Hitchcock when making this movie as it has a distinctive air of some of his thrillers. Meryl Streep and Roy Scheider offer great performances and the ending has a great (if slightly silly) twist. Entertaining though not outstanding.

The story is painfully predictable, The characters are annoying, the jokes are stupid, and even the music sounds like nails on a chalkboard. If you want a slapstick holiday movie, you'll find better with Christmas Vacation.. or even Home Alone. Heck, Jingle All the Way sounds more entertaining compared to this.
