Matt R (us) wrote: This is by far the best movie of all time. The first 8 minutes of Altman's crane shot in a Hollywood parking that never ceases to end gives me a boner. I love Altman. Long live Altman.

Dave J (us) wrote: Monday, May 26, 2014 (2013) Apartment 1303 HORROR A very shallow and bland remake from the Japanese horror film made in 2007 from the story by Kei ishi, starring Julianne Michelle as Janet Slate leasing the perfect apartment only to find out later that it could be haunted. Mischa Barton also stars as Janet's older sister Lara, as she's trying to get along with her alcoholic mother, Maddie (Rebecca De Mornay) who's a rock singer. Some of the existing problems is almost immediate such as how come if both daughters hated the mother so much, how come they don't live with their fathers or friends? What's preventing Janet from getting her older sister to move in with her if she's so scared being alone in the apartment? What's the deal with the only two ghostly people living in the same floor as Janet? Where are the other renters, and who're the other renters? How come the super suddenly became a creepy person to converse with? Does the little girl, Emily ever exist or is she really a ghost? It is these questions and more which is why this film has got to be one of the worst haunted ghost films ever made. Bomb

Sam R (us) wrote: My love for this film has faded over the years. In the end, the characters are just too self-absorbed, annoying, and unbelievably naive to connect with.

Jim Varney is hillarious as Ernest P Worrell. This is the first Ernest movie I saw and is my favorite one. It has a lot of laughs and a lot of heart. This is truly a must in your movie collection.

Henrik S (it) wrote: A good movie which went deeper into the subject matters than I expected. The DVD cover read like a cheap romance pulp novel and I was surprised when the movie addressed issues of racism and old age. Unfortunately, Montogomery Clift's downfall is more than apparent in this picture and his performance is wooden and stale and almost grotesque at times. One particular scene comes to mind, when Lee Remick (who does a fantastic job) delivers a powerful monologue and Clift more or less drops off of the screen, that is how bad he is. I have always been fond of him, sincing seeing him in Red River when I was a kid. Here and then, Kazan's talent shines through and some scenes are powerful compositions illustrating the relationship between man and nature and Kazan uses fog, light and the remoteness of Tennesse to great effect. The ending is a bit inconclusive but at least it is not some Hollywood serving of candy-colour cheesecake. All in all, a good movie which could have been great with a better cast, as Lee Remick cannot pull the weight alone. HX
