Bryan C (gb) wrote: Not quite sure what to make of this movie. It's filled with great actors delivering great individual moments and dialogue, but there's nothing compelling to tie the scenes together or make you care at all about what they are discussing. I also suspect it hasn't aged well (through no fault of its own). The business world depicted in the movie -- no cell phones, no computers -- is so foreign to a modern audience that it is hard to relate.Grade: B-

Eduardo C (nl) wrote: Thank God for David O. Russell. This was the film Marty Scorsese could have made but never did. It lacks Marty's notorious blood and guts falling out violence and that's for the best. What it has is brilliant ensemble acting by Bale, Cooper, Adams, Lawrence, Renner and Louise C.K. It is dynamic, gripping, exciting and a WHOLE LOTTA fun. I love that it says at the beginning "Some of this actually happened". It's honest and mysterious that way, unlike a film that pretends to be all true but isn't, such as "Argo". This film is much better than that one.
Matt C (de) wrote: This is a really engrossing film, telling the story of the wrongful imprisonment of Gerry Conlon, one of the so-called 'Guildford Four'. Day-Lewis and Postlethwaite are fantastic and bring a real credibility to the father-son relationship. Thompson as well, shines in a cameo as their defence lawyer. Made me want to search out the source novel, the whole story of police and government corruption literally beggars belief.
