But it does pick up a lot at the end though. MASSIVE amount of voice over narration here, with lots and lots of animal footage. Anyways, it's all about the lions, though, isn't it? I guess the producers must think so. Continuation of the Born Free franchise (which, technically, this is the last one until a cable movie many years later) different actors playing the lead roles, which suffer, as they don't have the chemistry or the believability of the first set

Even though My Big Fat Greek Wedding isn't going to be a comedic classic, it's still a hilarious enough film that the whole family would have a great time watching it. You can sort of see where it's gonna go, but the way it's handled is not that bad, and wasn't as mean-spirited as I thought was going to be. The way the jokes were executed seem like something from a sitcom show which I'm just expecting a laugh track from it, which the jokes did get a laugh out of me, even if all of the jokes didn't hit bullseye. The family are hilarious to watch, and are the best part of the film which you just want to see more of them. The chemistry between Toula and Ian is very good and sweet enough for me to buy them as a couple. She's very funny in this and definitely sold it out as a main lead. I've heard about Nia Vardalos for quite a while because of this film, but I never seen her in a film before, so I wouldn't know what to think of her, but in this, she's really good as an actress and a writer. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a great comedy that made me learn a bit about Greek which I never thought would even happen

This is one of those movies for when you come home exhausted long day's work, and you want to sit down and watch something that you don't have to think too hard about while you eat your dinner

better late than never. . . I'm glad I stumbled upon this one. Comparable titles are Mirrormask and The Fall. While suitable for children (10+) Paperhouse offers a twisted psychological horror that will frighten the pants off the young'uns. Its a film that needs to be scratched below the surface and I suspect repeat viewings will reveal less obvious subtexts and parallels. The imagery is great and Bernard Rose establishes himself as a serious director. If I had discovered this film when I was a kid it would have scared the living shit out of me. his eyes are removed and he wields a hammer and he's hellbent on bashing Anna. . . At first fun, her fantasy takes a sinister turn when her alcoholic father finds his way into the drawing. She soon realises that she can control this world by adding to her picture in her waking hours. She had drawn him in the top window and forgot to give him legs. During her black-outs she finds herself inside her own drawing where she meets a lonely boy. her first picture is a house. . . In her boredom she takes to drawing. It tells the story of an 11 year old girl, Anna, who is struck down with glandular fever and suffers frequent black-outs. How this movie eluded me all these years is beyond me. Paperhouse was his third film and as soon as I read the synopsis I had to buy it. I've liked his work over the years (Candyman, Immortal Beloved, Mr Nice) and was keen to find some of his early stuff. I was drawn to Paperhouse because of it's director, Bernard Rose

A beautiful picture from one of the most talented contemporary Brazilian fil makers. But that does not need to push your tolerance for the different nor loses the capacity to connect emotionally to the viewer. It can give you one of those rare satisfaction moments of seeing something original

Did they really think trying to make it arty would cover up for a disjointed, muddled story? Reasonable cinematography though. The writing at times is so woeful you have to wonder if Nicole Kidman insisted on certain scenes and dialogue. Clumsy, cliched and even hammy

I quite sensed the last-minute explanation of loose ends, but its always a classic! Highly recommend this twisty, dark, darkly comic and immensely entertaining Norwegian flick. 'Hodejegerne' [Headhunters] is your classic Sunday dose of a good thriller with popcorn

It's a far from great film but it has its moments of interest, and paedophile themed movies don't come along too often, so if you feel you can handle it check it out. The whole hypnotism angle was a bit silly too, I wish that wasn't thrown in. Malcolm McDowell was ok as Andrei Evilenko the killer (real name Andrei Chikatilo), at times he came across a bit pantomimish, but also delivers some chilling moments. Given the grim nature of the story there are some really uncomfortable scenes to sit though even though it's not that violently graphic. Fact-based drama about a serial-killing paedophile cannibal who murdered 55 young women and children in the Ukraine and Russia during the Soviet ruled years of the 80s
