Calum B (ru) wrote: Snow Day felt like the fake chrismas trees you see in the stores. Going into it, I didn't have huge expectations. After seeing the previews on TV, I knew it was from Nickalodean and it felt very "Pete & Pete"ish. I was a fan of the Pete & Pete show for some strange reason. The biggest problem of the movie is the large cast of supporting characters, too many probably for a two-hour movie, let alone this one that clocks at 90 minutes including end titles.Chevy Chase has been in what can nicely be called more than his share of bad movies, but at least he knows how to deliver a laugh when he's given one. I wish there was more of him in this film.Chris Elliott, as funny as he is, could not save the snow plow character. I don't think anyone could, and with the exception of the plot involving the snowplow man, the film may have been better. And may-be it's just me, but I'm really getting sick of the whole best friend is obviously in love with main character, but main character is blind and believes he loves the popular girl story. It's been told too many times...

Ms Amanda J (it) wrote: Entertaining! I haven't heard of the actors before but did want to know more about them because of their lively performances. Rufus Wainwright was the cutest thing ever (I didn't know who he was either lol). Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller moves at a fun and exciting pace and keeps viewers hooked throughout.

Eric R (au) wrote: I hadn't seen this film in years and I was happy to see that it's just as good as I remember, maybe even better. This is great Horror film about an American professor, John Holden, who goes to England to disapprove all things supernatural. Torneur's use of lighting to create a creepy atmosphere are in full effect here, creating a sense of danger throughout the entire film. I have come to realize how much I really love the relationship which unfolds between John Holden and Dr. Karswell, the conjurer of these demons. It's so great because given the situation, these two men are very calm and calculated in dealing with one and other, like some type of chess-match. They are both civil and relatively polite but obviously are not fond of each other given the circumstances. Holden's disbelief in any type of hocus pocus, is very amusing and if I had one criticism of this film I think it's that he holds this belief a little too long, given what he has seen.. but that's debatable. The whole sequence where Holden sneaks into Karswell's house is just masterful in it's use of lighting, compositions, etc. The creature effects that are used for the Night Demon are a little cheesy when it comes to the closeup's but everything besides that, the gradual appearance of smoke and the fire effects, are still effective, even by today's standards.
