But, regardless, the subject was fascinating as it was insightful. Even with the available cameras they used to film this documentary, the story kept me drawn in all the way to the end.

Aching use of music to tell its story, and say what its characters cannot. Brize's narrative is elegant and heartfelt.

Paul Newman's directorial debut stars Joanne Woodward as a middle aged school teacher who has nobody to love and is sort of under her mother's control, or at least she lets herself be controlled by her. It had some very good moments in it, I loved all of the flashbacks in the film, I wish there were more of those. But I just didn't like the flow of the film, it felt overlong. Woodward was great though, as was Estelle Parsons. It's a good movie, but I felt it could have been much better.
