Richard G (gb) wrote: Great film for artists! Most scenes have the lighting and look of a Renaissance Painting! Rutger Hauer is un-be-lieveable...but I could do without Michael York -- he seems tired and out of place...an insight into the creativity and sensibilities of the Dutch!

Ola G (nl) wrote: "Edgeplay" is a documentary (directed by Vicky Blue, former The Runaways member) about the great 70s all female rock n roll band The Runaways. I still dont understand why they didnt break much bigger than they did. Most likely because they were groundbreaking and people just didnt get it. The original band consisted of Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Sandy West and Jackie Fox. Here we get to meet everyone except Joan Jett, because she didnt give her blessing for this documentary and thus she also stopped them from using most footage and music from The Runaways. This is of course a big issue, and "Edgeplay" feels slighlty tilted and not balanced therefore. Same goes for the editing and the general shooting of the movie, which should have been done in a more professional manner. On the plus side is of course the possibility to meet most of The Runaways and hear how they experienced those year. We also get to meet Kim Fowley, a true "character" and the manager the first years. If you have an interest in The Runaways, I think you should see "Edgeplay", but the band deserves a really really good 2 hour documentary on them. I think the time is right, the movie "The Runaways" is out and a documentary could be a good complement. The Runaways rocked and I salute you Sandy West, rest in peace.

Shawn W (nl) wrote: Perilous journey by road for a group of travellers headed for Neon City. Much like a post-nuclear film only this one sees the Earth's demise from the deterioration of the ozone layer (is that still a problem?). Frankly I expected more from a Michael Ironside and Lyle Alzado collaboration.

Howard G (es) wrote: Utterly bizarre, almost incomprehensible, beautiful, yet a superb piece of high camp at the same time. A huge influence on my music, too. I cannot decide whether the monotonous, guttural Georgian voiceover improves or spoils it ...

John M (mx) wrote: I can fully appreciate the writing process without spending 100 minutes watching it. Epidemic is two movies: one is a doctor in Europe trying to treat the plague, and the other is the two writers of that story, Lars von Trier and Niels Vorsel (playing themselves), writing the screenplay of that movie. It??s divided about 90-10 in favor of the latter. This is Lars von Trier at his most inaccessible, and it ends up feeling a lot like a student art film. Speaking as somebody who has occasionally dabbled in writing, and speaking as someone who has just sat down and watched this film, I can tell you on two accounts: the writing process just isn't that interesting to watch. It is painfully boring at nearly every single turn; it is almost amazing to see how little there actually is here. There are a handful of interesting ideas sprinkled throughout, but none of them go anywhere, save the ending, which does somewhat redeem the movie, but only slightly. I love Lars von Trier, but this is a chore to watch, and it feels like an accomplishment if you can stay conscious. Also, it comes with an intentional watermark on it, which is one of the most bizarre directorial choices I have ever seen.

Jennifer T (ca) wrote: The movie is called "About Alex" but seems like it is not really about Alex. Too much discussion. Not a good story. Nice actors.

Ming Siu G (br) wrote: Wonderfully creepy, and a brilliant concept, well-executed. This is why I like indie horrors.
