Tim M (es) wrote: Tim Burton's rendition of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is much darker, less sweet, and very satisfying. This material plays to its directors strengths.

Eric R (fr) wrote: When the head of a mayor newspaper dies, his son creates a competition between the staff editors to crack a major news story, The Lipstick Killer. Its a film that follows these men as they compete to become head of the newspaper as well as the evens of this, Lipstick Killer. Its rather standard fair for a Fritz Lang film, but While The City Sleep does still have some quality things to offer. There is some beautiful lighting and Lang does do a great job as always creating this dark atmosphere to highlight the unease of the Lipstick Killer. Its interesting because I think the film ultimately doesn't succeed because its not sure exactly what it wants to be.

Logan M (br) wrote: Certainly a topical film with the recent string of allegations of police brutality, and even more so a powerful one.

Aksel G (mx) wrote: A film about a village in Mississippi in the mid 1960's that shows how the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) operated through corrupt officials, and the barbaric way they treated African Americans. As the US had made revolutionary changes regarding slavery and treatment of African American southern states, like Mississippi, were far behind. Not necessarily in the laws, but in the way African Americans were treated. This is an absolutely outstanding movie that's a must see. Not only showing the brutal way of treatment, but how (some) southern citizens got taught hatred against African Americans. Truly an amazing film.
