Scot C (kr) wrote: A bad movie can make a good actor look average. Michael Keaton has made better choices..

Fabio F (kr) wrote: Quirky doesn't always always mean good, but in this time somehow was alright???

Adrian L (it) wrote: Original, interesting, inventive.

Micah G (us) wrote: good, though awfully depressing stuff

George W (es) wrote: Well the pro critics were short stroking themselves over this one, as they invariably do with films of this genre. Phrases like "Gritty realism" and "Bleak nihilism" are their stock hackneyed response, a substitute for any real insight or thought. Its a joke, this is not England, or any other part of the UK for that matter. Its a staple of British film making. We make two films in the UK, Richard Curtis froth i.e the British are a nation of quirky eccentrics or dross like this. The insight into working class Britain in the Thatcher era is a conceit. Written by someone from the middle class who once had a friend at Uni who claimed to have had a working class pal. It reveals more about the bourgeois creatives who made it than it does about its supposed subject. The characters are drawn from the imagination of people who have no experience of the subject matter. It would have been lapped up by a middle class audience who simply wanted to be assured that things are tough at the bottom, that racism is the Lingua Franca of the dispossessed underclass despite the fact that the underclass are as diverse as this film isn't. You know the kind, they give a fiver a month to educate some kid in Africa, but would start writing to their MP if the local Council tax - which helps pay for local education - went up by that much. This is England, but only in the mind of the writer. The truth is far uglier and the finger points at the perpetrators and receiving audience of this sanitised ego massage to middle class hypocrisy.

Katherine S (gb) wrote: Dialogues are really poorly written and most of the times very laughable.

Jeff W (it) wrote: Monster with a huge penis rapes the women and kills the guys at a remote house in the woods. Let's not forget some extreme monster sized cum shots thrown in for good measure. Sounds way better than it is. Optical fogging takes any potential this had and threw it out the window.

Geoffrey O (br) wrote: Much more original and smart than most slasher movies, and I enjoyed it overall. It's actually one of the few slasher movies I can see being remade, since there was so much more they could have done with this plot and I think it would suit this generation of horror movies even better. Ironically, no remake is in the works as far as I know. Overall, it's a fun little slasher movies that takes a different direction than most.

Michael R (it) wrote: i get that this is supposed to be some kind of great movie. but it simply isn't a movie for... people. my girlfriend just pointed out that this movie was 1 hour and 59 miniutes, which, i swear, is funny because describing it to here i honestly thought it was four. Essentially what I'm saying is this needs more explosions. Seriously though, i get that it was a movie about the pain of growing old and so on, i got that message really viscerally because i grew older watching this movie and it was very painful. I'll put it this way, if you went out tonight and paid 15 bucks for a movie ticket and whatever else and then slept through this creeper my money is on you being pissed that you wasted good money and 4 hours of your life. Now, its not the worst movie i have ever seen, i think that honor goes to either the my little ponie movie, whitechicks, wickerman or that first twilight movie, but if any of those movies had had a famous director behind it, lasted 4 hours, and been filmed in black and white im sure they would have had a shot at being 'the greatest movie of all time"... just like this one.

Richard D (it) wrote: The most heart felt movie about making movies that I have seen next to Ed Wood. These guys are really creative on how to remake famous movies with no budget. The ending scene is terrific. Seeing everyone come together to laugh and cry at something they worked so hard on.If your a fan of movies, it's a must see.

Brian D (fr) wrote: It's absolutely disgraceful that this movie received such a low rating. The nuances of Romanticism and the uplifted Spiritual Man as he battles with himself only to overcome with the help of his spiritual guru, is a tale of the ages for the Millenial. I can not give this film more praise for it's uplifting, if not frightfully real, message about what it means to be a man and to act like one.

Walt J (mx) wrote: nice twists, not enough character or plot development but def worth the time

Connie T (kr) wrote: Was a pretty good movie. I did enjoyed it. But I do think it would have been nice if they kept out the rated R parts to make it more family friendly.

Matthew S (ag) wrote: This movie brought Wes Anderson to center-stage of the film industry. More clever than smart, the story of an eccentric family often falls prey to "twee" sentiments and eccentricities. There is some cinematic magic here amid the endlessly "twee" sentiments and overtly eccentric ticks. None of these characters ever feels real enough for me to care, but it is fun to watch Anderson at play/work in what forms.

Bill B (ag) wrote: I have to say that the overall pacing of this one was a bit wonky for my personal tastes, but I did enjoy the over the top violence of citizens fighting back against gangs who threaten to take over their neighborhoods.Well worth a look for fans of the revenge drama genre.Recommended.
