It's a very slow observation of his dull life, and it ends way too abruptly to be meaningful in any way. There is no explanation from anybody or anything, not that it's completely necesary, but a little guidance is sometimes nice to see the motive of the characters' actions.

The final third of the film feels a lot different as these are swept aside to be able to conclude the crime story.
Matthew D (jp) wrote: The versions of the characters are well done and the voice-work is as good as always for DC comics animation, the story has a good set-up and some nice twists and turns, but it feels like more could have been done with the characters and the small moments of development some have don't quite work. Also the whole thing is over-the-top in its machoness, at times to the point of parody.

Chris R (nl) wrote: Carol is a beautiful film that is carried on the shoulders of two incredible peformances. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are just fantastic as Carol and Therese. Their chemistry is simply off the charts. Todd Haynes direction also deserves a mention as it was great as well. His ability to capture the essense of 1950s America was remarkable. The narrative in this film can be a bit thin at times but this is a movie that you watch for the peformances. I recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of great acting.
