The story revolves around a college freshman with an obsession for serial killers which leads to mail correspondence and ultimately a frightening meeting with one. Gacy is superbly played by William Forsyth who captures the chilling depravity and clinical skill of a master killer, torturer and psychopath. The production is Canadian which makes things a little strange however Jesse Moss plays a passionate proselyte in the form of Jason Moss, the real-life serial killer aficionado. Just incredible to think this is a true story.

Carlos M (de) wrote: It is not very clear what McQueen wants with this unflinching but detached story of survival, as he throws together scenes of brutal realism with theatrical dialogue, cartoonish villains and a plot that seems more interested in the torture than offering any new insight into the subject.
Dan W (ca) wrote: This movie is fucking travesty. It should be a filthy blemish on anyone involved in signing off the script and those in production who watched the flashbacks and forwards between 2002 and 2013 and thought it was believable. But my biggest beef is with the amateurish way Australian Rules Football is treated. If your going to feature the revered Australian sport - do your homework assholes: Jack Nicholson's couch character uses satisfactory idioms and then in the next sentence uses generic sports terms that sound fucking ridiculous. And the premise that Angus Sampson's overweight character could be playing alongside legitimate AFL prospects is out and out bullshit. Hang your heads in shame Blinder.

Jo C (au) wrote: Apart from being thrown in the deep end of sporadic timeline jumps at the start, Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller work together with disturbing beauty in their estranged mother/son relationship, while director Lynne Ramsay drops effective clues on why they need to talk about Kevin (more red than The Red Wedding). Tension is potent and the psyche empathises with Swinton's Eva, but would the story have benefitted from Kevin telling it? Or have we seen that too much already?
Logan M (nl) wrote: Not very compelling and with little personality, this just 'meh' confined thriller has an interesting enough premise, but offers nothing outstanding.
