(mx) wrote: Although Not a horrible film, it is a blatant rip off of the movie Red Dawn. The film is decent and not trerribly written, however it lacks the ability to draw you in and make you want more.
(es) wrote: Worn actors with a worn storyline. They just can't capture the magic of yesteryear.
(fr) wrote: Meryl Streep is fun, sarcastic and downright vicious in this, well it's not really a chick-flick, so, romantic comedy?
(ag) wrote: Sensational! Great performances by everyone. Scott Glenn was great as I expected, but Brendan Fraser and Mos Def were surprisingly awesome. Mos Def is the master of subtlety in this film and Brendan Fraser was incredibly great especially since the last movies I saw him in were those mummy movies. Didn't know Fraser could be so dark.I love the camera work in the film, the acting was great, and I like the story of these characters, people who are trying to escape the ugliness in their lives. It's interesting to see how these characters respond to the circumstances that are put upon them.

(us) wrote: Still love it. River was a brilliant talent and Keanu? Well Keanu will always be beautiful ;)Van Sant? He paints this movie like a dark, surreal and truly beautiful painting. It's hilarious in parts, others so desperately sad but leaves me with a sweet taste knowing that no matter how bad you think things are and how alone you may feel, there is always someone out there who cares.
(mx) wrote: Not nearly as funny as the original, there is enough hilarity to make it a welcome entry to this franchise! B+
(fr) wrote: Errol Morris' masterwork is a documentary comedy, full of the weirdness that makes Morris' first 2 films so great and fun to watch! The astonishing documentary is, definitely, my favorite film by my favorite filmmaker, Errol Morris, and I find it to be an awfully underrated film.
(fr) wrote: One of Robert Altman's strangest and best works. A bizarre story that's difficult to describe, and would seem to be even more difficult to make all its disparate elements work. But Altman somehow manages to blend it all together into a breezy, wholly original flight of comic fancy headlined by a great offbeat cast. A classic that deserves to be better known.
(us) wrote: This movie is an amazing study of human behaviour from the sheer selfishness and greed of the exploiters to the fear and desperation of the exploited. It is a testament to the weakness of humanity be it the weakness of greed leading to lack of compassion for one's fellow on the one hand and to the weakness of the exploited to allow themselves to be exploited for fear of losing the very little they have. The Organizer is the exception. He is not weak. He is compassionate. For this he pays dearly. Hated by the exploiters and not understood by the exploited. Perhaps he does not even understand himself. A powerful film and a must for anyone concerned with the current horror of Neo-Liberalism and global warming.

(de) wrote: I never understood how people didn't like Nicolas Cage but after watching Honeymoon in Vegas I can see it. I still love the man but Honeymoon in Vegas opened my eyes a bit. Cage screams his way through this extremely dry comedy featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, James Caan and Cage. When not screaming or being one of the biggest jerks filmed in a comedy Cage and Parker show some of the worst chemistry seen (though Caan and Parker were almost as bad). Honeymoon in Vegas falls flatter than a skydiving Elvis whose parachute doesn't open.
(us) wrote: While it's not Raiders, the film is still pretty fun and interesting, it's darker for sure, the second time for Indy and Spielberg really make it feel like an old Bond movie, but with Indiana Jones instead and I'm perfectly fine with that.

(ag) wrote: An odd couple cop movie, with two able comic actresses in the lead roles. It'sstrange to see this 2013 movie in 2016, when its pro-police brutality stance makes the viewer uneasy. Bullock is in favor of going by the book, and McCarthy, who grew up in the neighborhood she is policing, is pragmatic, profane, and violent. If you ignore some of the undercurrents, the movie can be enjoyed on a superficial basis, even boasting a cat subplot. Nice cameos by Demian Bichir and Jane Curtin and the Boston background is a character by itself. Easy targets, like lame lechers in bars, crooked cops, stale sandwiches and women's pantsuits are lampooned. The refrigerator is full of guns, and the bad guys practically wear black hats. Good if you're not in the mood for anything deep and want a few laughs.

But when a skinhead just out of jail takes over the group and leads it to nationalistic grounds, the violence and tension is unleashed. Meadows paints a perfect picture of the conservative Thatcher years in England, as well as the social unhappiness of the times, in this film that is based upon true incidents from his childhood. The result is also a gripping, violent and intense drama that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
