It's humor is ridiculous and for me that's good in many ways. Part 1 was like an instant B movie classic. This one, not quite so much, but for what it is, it's not terrible.

The Canadian did it already with AWAY FROM HER, so did the Swedish, French, British, Japanese, Korean, etc. EMPTIES was distinguished for it was treated as a romantic comedy. The film was not director Jan Sverak's most original or his best film, but it was still delightful, sensual and witty during most of its 100 minutes! Father Zdenek Sverak who played horndog Josef was in great form. I reckon this is one of the best summer fares for the more matured audience... so far!

Watchmen relies solely on a one-time-only experience, and Snyder gets the job done, and for the most part, he knocks it out of the park.

I expected some sort of weepy chick flick & ended up often not knowing where this movie was going next. This is the reason I end up going back to view the overlooked stuff. A wonderful surprise.

Rob F (mx) wrote: From the period in the 1980??s where Altman started making films based on plays, and I??m not so sure this one was such a great idea. The performance by Philip Baker Hall was compelling, but this seems almost like a companion piece to a Nixon documentary or biopic, as not enough information is given concerning the parts of his life to which he keeps reacting to make these reactions have any impact. I was lost the whole movie; since I know very little about the life of Nixon proper, so I knew very little about what this Nixon was referring to the whole time.
Brett B (jp) wrote: Michael Caine is his usual, charming self, and Mickey Rooney has a strong supporting role, but (while it is modestly entertaining to watch Caine play amateur detective) the story isn't anywhere near as clever as it thinks it is.
Madison S (de) wrote: This is a hilarious movie, even if, at times, it is slightly confusing. A very good picture of a love quadrangle, if such an item happens to exist. It's got humor, it's got love, and it's got Sinatra singing as only Sinatra can.
