Tatsuhito K (kr) wrote: It is Keitel's courageous performance that drives this film. You will be stunned by the way he transforms himself and bares everything. It is not so much about the plot or the dialogue (there's nothing particularly outstanding about the script). It is all about this character; about his corrupted soul, addiction, and him seeking for redemption. Will the Lieutenant change by the end of the film? Will his soul be saved? Bad Lieutenant showcases how good and daring of an actor Harvey Keitel is. Bravo!

Tim S (ag) wrote: Knives of the Avenger (AKA I Coletelli del Vendicatore, AKA Bladestorm, AKA Viking Massacre) is one of Mario Bava's lesser works and probably hasn't been seen by too many genre fans. Mario Bava was a director that liked to do a lot of different things. He did horror films and spy spoofs, but for this one, he did an action/period piece. To be honest, I found it to be mostly boring and uninteresting for the majority of its running time. It does feature a young Cameron Mitchell as the hero, but not the kind of Cameron Mitchell that I'm used to; the one that is a terrible but fun actor to watch. I'll certainly give the movie credit for its costume design and look of everything. It got that right, but it didn't really light a fire under me in any other way. Mario Bava aficionados may enjoy it the most, I suppose, but I personally didn't care all that much for it.
