Funny dialogue from its leads Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, non-stop action and awesome car chases. Bay should stick with R-rated movies, because that's where he shines and delivers a funny, yet exhilarating joy ride. There were some really funny moments. The one with Reggie taking Burnett's daughter out on a date was incredible. Marcus Burnett: "Who the fuck are you?!''Reggie: ''Hi Mr. Burnett, I'm Reggie!''Marcus Burnett: ''Whatcha doin' here'?''Reggie: ''Came to take out Megan.''Marcus Burnett: ''WHAT?!''Reggie: ''I came to take out Megan.''Marcus Burnett: ''How old are you?''Reggie: ''I'm 15 Mr. Burnett.''Marcus Burnett: ''Muthafucka, you look 30!''That was awesome. Then Mike Lowrey shows up and went completely nuts (In a funny way of course)The second scene is when Marcus and Mike go to their captain's house to show pictures of Tapia (Molla) and Marcus went completely crazy, because he took the ecstasy from the lab of dead people under examination. Martin Lawrence stole the entire scene. It was awesome. Hands down, the funniest scene after the Reggie one in my opinion. It has its flaws to be honest, but they don't really bug me that much unlike his other movies (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Island and the Transformersmovies). Briefly explained: The slow-mo in some scenes were improper at times, The car chase with the fatsos dropping from the truck was ambiguous and the whole movie is an advertisement of Sony products, mainly because Columbia Pictures is a unit of Sony. Video cameras, TV's, computers, headphones.........yeah, not bad, but it turns to be somewhat excessive .Conclusion. It may have product placement (not as crucial as in The Island or the Transformers movies and, thank god there were like 10-11), at least the explosions aren't bad. The visuals are good and the mansion explosion completely went over the top. Still, an exciting movie that deserves a watch. Definitely recommend it. Stuart B (ca) wrote: As a big fan of Jules Dassin's other heist movie, Rififi, I was interested to see how this spoof of the genre would play out. Unfortunately, I discovered that while Dassin is indeed the master of suspense when it comes to heist films, with a knack for squeezing every drip of sweat from your brow as you grimace through his tension fueled jewel theft executions, and indeed he has a keen knack for comedy also, it was a pity the two genres just didn't mix that well together. Not to say they can't as movies such as The Pink Panther have proved, but some of the elements just jarred against each other too much. It didn't help that the psychedelia infused haze of kaleidoscopic images which litter the opening sequences seemed novelty and a little silly, but when it does settle down into it's plot the film forms small segments of fantastic ideas. One moment it's a brilliant farce, the next a nerve wrecking suspense, but when putting them all together, while for the most part entertaining, it just didn't seem to work for me. However, Peter Ustinov is always entertaining to watch as the bumbling conman who stumbles upon a team of thieves and ends up working for them, and with such a comedic talent it is hard not to enjoy his fumbling efforts. Just a shame that despite his efforts the movie wasn't cohesive enough.
