Much better than I expected, some of the acting was a little shoddy in parts, but it was cute, the leads had chemistry and it did make me cry a little (always a good sign!)

Jonathan V (fr) wrote: While not entirely depraved, Mamma Mia is incredibly mindless. This film has very little story, opting instead to drown the audience in unrelated song after unrelated song. This hodgepodge musical struggles to connect the music to the story but does a very poor job. With all the filler removed, this film would probably be 15 minutes. Overall, I found the comedy forced and lame, the singing ranged from decent to atrocious and the focus was all over the place. The movie is too fun to hate but nothing near intellectual sustenance.

Make the gender-bending occur at the genetic level rather than just costuming (there's a reason frogs appear throughout the movie). You now have the premise of 'Zerophilia', the story of a college lad who finds he has a rare genetic condition, a quack doctor that is not all that she seems, and how all of this affects friendships, romance, and self-image. Even thought the story resolution becomes rather obvious once you realize what's happening in the film, its enjoyable nonetheless, mainly due to good casting especially for Luke and Luca.

Tommaso D (nl) wrote: About Time is most certainly one of the best made romantic comedies of the last decade: it's original, it's genuine, beautifully shot and the perfect soundtrack is just the cherry on top of the cake. What an amazing job done by director Richard Curtis, who also wrote the screenplay. For sure it has its flaws, like any other movie with time travel in them, but the honesty and the positive emotions that this movie can give largely make up for any of those flaws.Terrific performance from Rachel McAdams and heartwelming chemistry between her and Domhnall Gleeson. One of the very few movies that I enjoy watching again.
