Tara H (jp) wrote: Animated spaghetti western with Johnny Depp? Yes please - and it mostly lived up to expectations, though it didn't really get going for a while and the romance was predictable. Basically a pastiche of lots of other movies - even one of my all-time favourites, Chinatown - and also the more famous creations of producer George Lucas. I was slightly irritated to hear Ray Winstone voicing yet another cockney heavy. But I loved the Castaneda-style mystic journey, and the Clint Eastwood-like Spirit of the West, not to mention the owl mariarchi band!

Laura M (ag) wrote: It was an interesting movie on many levels. There was the IRL affair between the actors, the fact that Yash Chopra wrote an obsessive love story where the obsessive love wasn't victorious, Amitabh Bachchan sang instead of it being a professional singer. The movie needed to dig a little deeper with Amit and show us why the ending would go the way it did, but it was a decent movie anyway.
Carl N (au) wrote: Rest assured this is not a vampire film. In fact its original title is the bare breasted countess. That should give you some indication of the tone of this film. The plot is wafer thin and the soundtrack is so appalling. But this film is saved from being a total car crash by the ever beautiful Lina Romay. She is amazing in the lead role. Even though see plays a mute, it doesnt matter. She can say it all with just a look of those stunningly mesmerizing eyes. It also helps that she spends 95% of this film naked. If you're a Lina fan you must see this film!

Kevin M (fr) wrote: The only good thing about this heap of vintage trash is Rita Hayworth. Everything else will hit you like a tranquilizer. Orson Welles directs and stars with a terrible Irish accent; even I could do a more accurate Irish accent than that. It's not only distracting, but annoying. The plot goes in way too many directions for anyone to stand a chance of grasping it and the lean 87 minute running time feels like an eternity.

Alec B (fr) wrote: The basic plot isn't terribly interesting, but it's racial politics are . . . it's unfortunate that Franklin and Washington never got to make a film series with this character as I have a feeling that it would be one of the rare times a sequel would improve upon the original.
