Michael S (es) wrote: Harrison Ford is entertaining. The Hawaii locations are gorgeous. But the rest of the film (the romantic banter, the action scenes, anything with David Schwimmer) is tepid at best. And why the hell are there scenes with pirates?

SV G (es) wrote: A tiny bit dated now, but still holds up well about a young single woman who's morher places an ad in the personals for her. While she works her way through one bad datw after another, and through her own personal angst, she continues to cross paths and have near misses with Mr Right, with so much wrong in his own life. Nothing new here, still and all fun.

Auttie R (br) wrote: This film is incredibly difficult to watch, but the performances, were absolutely amazing.

Umar F (fr) wrote: Though the movie had very simple story yet so touching, its an ordinaray story of parent child relationship and who parents sacrafice everyhting for the sake of their children. Content wise movie is very strong and a lil bit emotional. performances were good manoj handled his role very well so did juhi.

Reece L (us) wrote: Written on the Wind is flat out excellent, accommodated by Sirk's signature visuals (was anyone better at cultivating this kind of look?) and a wonderfully melodramatic love story filled with subtleties (Kyle's possible homosexuality, Marylee's nymphomania and a couple of hilarious visual jokes that play off of it, the almost ironically over-the-top direction) that an audience could choose to ignore if they wanted to experience the pulpy top layer on its own. Robert Stack and Dorothy Malone are both excellent in their tortured villainy, almost to the point that watching Hudson and Bacall feels dull by comparison, but what make the film truly great is its screenplay, an elegantly structured piece filled with witty dialogue that allows for the two divergent ways one can view a Sirk film (either an earnest, trashy melodrama or a still-earnest-yet-hilarious satire of an earnest, trashy melodrama, with the added element of genuinely affecting material). It may not beat All That Heaven Allows in that respect, but it's certainly considered to be one of his best for a reason.

Ben L (fr) wrote: This film utilizes one of my favorite story-telling techniques. I love when a plot is all about flashing back to the same story, but telling it from different points of view. In fact, Rashomon might use that method more effectively than any other movie I've seen. It's just fascinating because most movies use this type of plot strictly to show different points of view, but here they use it to talk about the vagaries of perception and memory. It's one of those movies where they leave you hanging without telling you everything in the end. The fact that I desperately wanted to know what happened is a sign that the movie was working as it should. My big struggle with the movie is that, no matter how things really went down, I don't understand why all 3 people involved were motivated to take the blame for what happened. I suspect there's something about guilt that plays into that, but it would probably take a few times watching it to understand all of that.Rashomon is a film that I keep thinking about hours after watching it, which is a great sign. I wasn't sure how good all the actors were, because I have trouble catching on to how well actors are capturing emotions when they aren't speaking English. It felt like a couple of them were a bit overly melodramatic, and the weird eyebrow situation on the women kept throwing me off. The film looks great for a black-and-white movie, and Kurosawa does some great things with light and shadows. I can always see why he is such a lauded director, and why this film is considered one of his best.

Armando B (mx) wrote: The continuation of the legendary saga of James Bond is back, and this covers every element of a James Bond movie, but it was a bit to long and lacking of action. The villain played by Javier Bardem was excellent, the movie was well made, but needed more action and more suspense like the other recent James Bond movies. With that being said for this franchise being a sucess with Daniel Graig since Casino Royale, I give " Skyfall " a B-.

Grant S (br) wrote: A very funny, clever and original telling of a Sherlock Holmes story. Rolls along, with fun and great humour. Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley are in fine form as Holmes and Watson. Good support from Jeffrey Jones, Peter Cook, Pat Keen and others.
