Anthony I (es) wrote: Valerie Solanas, feminist hero? or total maniac? Considering she tried to assassinate Andy Warhol, you tell me. Meet one of the angriest feminists in American history, in all of her glory, in a beautifully done film by American Psycho director Marry Harron. It's a journey of rejection, loathing, and pain. Lilli Taylor is great, and so is the rest of the cast. The script is top notch, and the editing is fabulous, and surprisingly exuberant. Biopics shine when they are brought to the screen with more panache than.. lets say an A&E documentary.

Vuk S (es) wrote: A nice little satirical comedy about a racist, bigot white man waking up black, in turn being exposed to the same intolerance he once endorsed. In the first few minutes of the film we see Godfrey Cambridge (an African-American actor) portraying his character in whiteface. To be honest, this was quite a creepy effect, and obviously I thought that something just isn't right with the actor. Later I found out it was actually a black man in disguise. As you'd expect, the movie continued to portray the main character going through a variety of problems, including falsely being accused for stealing, and receiving numerous racist and hateful phone calls, thus realizing how badly he used to treat people. This is the same concept we see in numerous films, for example The Family Man, which include the "magical metamorphosis" of a person. However, unlike most films, this one takes a somewhat more darker turn near the end, thus we aren't really presented with the happy ending we are used to.All in all, this is a really enjoyable comedy which tackles many racial issues. It helped move the director's career, leading him to direct the successful Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, which gained a cult following. Definitely worth a watch.
