Unlikable characters and a slow moving plot made me fast forward through the last thirty-five minutes of this film (after I'd fell asleep through it!!) Did not understand why every scene had to start/end with a blurred screen nor why the camera was moving around most of the time. I enjoyed the ending, but it was over far too quickly. Dull, AVOID!!

Thomas D (it) wrote: Sleepy Hollow manages to impressively balance out a brutally graphic premise with an interesting mystery and decidedly timely humor. It's easily one of Tim Burton's most entertaining adventures to date.Period pieces are ripe for great horror flicks. To me, the creepiest film of 2016 has been The Witch, and that's large part due to the eerie 17th century setting on a secluded farm. Sleepy Hollow is a much more habited town, but the same eerie tone is set brilliantly by cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki. I love the way he and Burton used the town itself as a character which is a part of the mystery. Speaking of the mystery, It's nice to see Burton tackle a mystery, which I believe is the only time he's ever ventured into that genre. And he handles it well for the most part. A good portion of the film focuses on why exactly a headless horseman is taking out certain members of the Sleepy Hollow community, with Johnny Depp's Ichabod Crane at the center of the investigation. Crane, in typical Burton fashion, is a bit of an eccentric and unpredictable twist to his detective style. But the real issue with some of the mystery is that the third act reveals come at a rapid pace and the story gets a little convoluted. With that said, once we get caught up as an audience, Burton gives us a juicy climatic showdown with the infamous horseman, and it doesn't disappoint. He's done a few horror films, but Sleepy Hollow ranks up there with some of his best overall features. It has his distinguished tone and style with plenty of colorful kills by one of the great horror villains of all time, the headless horseman. An awkward romance and a somewhat convoluted third act prevent it from being flawless, but it's more than just your average horror entertainment.+Lubezki+Burton hits all the right beats+Amazing climax+Well-crafted-Iffy romance-Somewhat confusing reveals9.0/10

Kelly C (ag) wrote: I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Its a great film, with plenty of humor, great dialogue, and serious action. I definitely recommend seeing this film! I think Skeet Ulirich and Cuba Gooding Jr had awesome onscreen chemistry. The scenery is cool too.

Corey B (it) wrote: Back when erotic thrillers were the thing in Hollywood this came in and out like a short fart, forgetful and without a stink, worth a rent but you can forget it after. Don't know why this movie always ended up on DVD or BluRay

Antonio A (it) wrote: Even though I have enjoyed most of the movies from Almodvar I've seen so far, I wasn't familiar with "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown". I was completely taken aback by it because what appears at the beginning like a very artful, but sort of straightforward meditation on a woman's love life escalates into a telenovela-like film full of laughs and larger than life characters. The film has the usual good looks of an Almodvar picture, and the performances are all delightful, especially Carmen Maura's. She is game for every crazy twist the script throws at her, but at her core she retains a sadness and humanity that keeps her Pepa from becoming a cartoon, while at the same time gives the film its grounding. Great fun!

Scott M (nl) wrote: Scott Baio is awful in this. The story is dumb. Very much tries to be like Animal House in high school. It works when Baio doesn't speak. I did like Heather Thomas.

Stuart K (fr) wrote: With The Abominable Dr. Phibes a big success, American International chiefs James H. Nicholson and Samuel Z. Arkoff immediately started production on this sequel, with the great Vincent Price reprising his role as the deformed organist, it's a good sequel, but it's filled with alot of "how the hell would he be able to manage to do that??" moments. It has Dr. Anton Phibes (Price), awakening after being in suspended animation for 3 years, and planning an expedition to Egypt to resurrect his dead wife. However, he has trouble from his old rival Darrus Beiderbeck (Robert Quarry), who stole an ancient papyrus Phibes had, although Phibes is able to get it back, and Phibes heads for Egypt. Years earlier, Phibes had build his own crypt within a mountain, complete with a clockwork band. However, when Beiderbeck arrives on the scene, he's wanting the same thing Phibes is seeking for, eternal life, but to throw Beiderbeck off the trail, the body count goes up again, and Inspectors Trout (Peter Jeffrey) and Waverly (John Cater) are on his trail. It's not as good as the first film, and it's alot more camp in tone, and alot more unbelievable, but Price is always worth watching. This one has a brilliant supporting cast with Peter Cushing, Beryl Reid, Terry-Thomas and John Thaw!! :D

Mark N (it) wrote: Visually and narratively unappealing. Ultimately feels like a plot that failed as a live action movie and they hoped a dour monochrome animation would somehow enhance the sell-ability. Again, using a named cast instead of talented voice-actors leaves these puppets twice as hollow as the plot that wishes it had an ounce of insight that Brazil & 1984 have in buckets.
