Although its stereotypical of me to make this the basis of watching this film, I couldn't give a f*ck. Then again I may have set myself up for egotistical torture by deciding to sit through a feature length film about annoying females living in New York. The intro predicts the latter, because it points out that the characters have gone nowhere since the TV series finished its run and therefore it may just end up being a feature length episode of painful female based dribble. For one thing it explains barely anything about the characters beyond their predictable female egos and merely expects you to have already seen the TV series.By 15 minutes in I felt like I had sat through 45 minutes of unfunny repetitive dribble. By the point where it felt like 2 hours, it had only been 28 minutes. So essentially, for someone not a fan of the TV series, Sex and the City: The Movie is more slow than a dyslexic snail. By 38 minutes in I wanted to smash my head over the table, and so I had to turn it off to refrain from suffering a serious concussion.Sex and the City: The Movie doesn't teach you anything about the femlale mind, but rather gives you a reason to stereotype it and find it more annoying, because its so obsessed with style that its completely bereft of whatever substance the original TV series may have consisted of, but for first time viewers it can be safe to assume there wasn't any. I saw snippets of episodes from time to time so I know there was, but there is no way to identify that from this movie. This is a travesty, an unfunny travesty. It teaches nothing, is almost completely bereft of sex and has no focus on the city, but instead it's the same old damn chick flick with the only difference being that it attempts to harvest the dieing spirit of the TV series. Its an unsuccessful attempt, and an unfunny, shallow unappealing one on behalf of Michael Patrick King who directs this lacklustre boring film into becoming nothing more than a crap vanity project. So it's a terrible film for people that aren't fans of the TV series or ideas in the story, and its cheaply acted, and the one reason I watched it, Kim Cattrall, isn't capitalized on as an actress or sex symbol, which drives my disdain for this gobshite further deep.

It sounds like they made three episodes of a botched cartoon and then ditched it to make...this thing. And the first story makes NO sense--shouldn't Cindy be happy she's married to that trophy-wife-seeking Prince and not slaving away for the stepsisters? Simple ways? A baker wants to marry Anastasia?! No wonder the third movie decided to remedy everything.

Barbara C (jp) wrote: I still quote this movie. Re-watch today and I'm reminded that it features a strong, smart woman who is not shrill in any way. She's also not a hard drinker, troubled or too sexual. We see many women like that these days. Let's see more women like this! There's no choice between William Hurt and Albert Brooks. Albert Brooks all day, every day. Finally, the scenes between Brooks and Hurt are brilliant.

Stuart M (ca) wrote: Interesting mostly because it was Kurosawa's first film and because of the historical value of a Japanese wartime film. It's not so much that it's a bad movie as it is a bland movie. Man wants to become judo champion, beats rivals, becomes the best. Fairly unmemorable, yet it was a major hit in WW2 and spawned a sequel. You can recognize the villain because he dresses like a Westerner. Also he has an evil villain goatee, complete with maniacally twistable mustache. About the only thing I will say in its favor is that it features some of the best examples of Kurosawa's large-scale cinematography. Most of his movies tend to be pretty intimate and small scale in range, but this one features an ending in vast fields of grain with wind and the shadows of clouds roaring across. It's too bad he didn't do more shots like these in his later movies. Perhaps the sheer amount of waiting that he must have had to do to get the weather exactly right dissuaded him from this in future. Either way, it's a fairly conventional film with some interesting shots and techniques in it. Really only worth seeing for Kurosawa fans.
Daniel S (ca) wrote: Watched this for the first time last night and I really don't know what to say. It's a horrible movie, by all means, but still a guilty pleasure. The acting is horrible in every sense. The gore is pretty low budget but still kinda cool. The one liners and gags are so horrible that you can't believe they even filmed it in the first place. There are enough funny moments to get you through to the end. I read the description of the movie on Fearnet and seemed interested, and decided to give it a shot. It reminds you of any 80's B-movie from the lines of Return of the Living Dead, Flesh Eating Mothers, or Chopper Chicks in Zombie town. I would watch this gem if you ever get the chance, for it's pretty rare to find. Don't expect anything from the movie and you won't be let down.

Chris B (it) wrote: A really good sci-fi film. Chris Evans going out of his comfort zone to be in this 2013 drama. This film has a great concept and is played out really well. A lot of great twist and turns. I love concepts like this. If you are not into Sci-fi it may not be for you.
