Dominion: Prequel To The Exorcist

Having lived through traumatizing events during WWII, Father Lankester Merrin takes a sabbatical from the Church to conduct archaeological excavations in British-administered East Africa. Merrin unearths an ancient Byzantine church believed have been built and then immediately buried to keep down evil from the crypt below. The natives are convinced that uncovering the church has unleashed a demon, and begin to violently clash with the British military troops. As the village rapidly disintegrates into chaos and war, a disabled and terribly injured local boy befriends Merrin and his condition begins to radically and implausibly improve. Is it a miracle from God, or something more sinister?

After Nazi officers force Merrin to choose ten members of his congregation for immediate execution, Merrin is left an emotionally broken man, and he takes a leave of absence from his duties to conduct archaeological excavations in British-administered East Africa. . Luciano G (gb) wrote: This movie proves that you do not need all the special effects to make the movie scary.....the atmosphere of The Entity is very intense, and although almost 20 years old, it still manages to be a lot scarier than most of today's horror of the key themes of the movie is that this could happen to anyone, as the main character is a relatively normal person who could as easily be you.....also the story has been told quite believably with presenting believable persons and reactions......the movie left unsure and tense feeling after you have watched it, which is what you should get from watching a horror story.....

John K (jp) wrote: People who know me- will know that this is usually the perfect film for me- And it does have a couple of enjoyable moments- but this just seems like a poor afterthought after the superior City of Rott which i enjoyed. The animation!! appears half hearted- (and it was poor to start with!) but the voice cast are appalling! one is just a very bad pitch shifted voice like a fucking Chipmonk that's supposed to be a woman!??The humour doesn't work at all as the comedic timing wasn't worked out well with the animation- you can tell where the 'joke' was supposed to be- but it failed! And don't get me started on the dumb music! To it's credit- it has some over the top gore moments- lots of faces pulped and circular saws hack demons to ribbons- but it all seemed over-long and tired. Shame as the first animated gore movie City of Rott was entertaining- this was just boring and repetitive.

Brittany R (it) wrote: Honestly, one of the most interesting and simply F*ed up movies I have ever seen. I'm not even sure what to compare it to. I rather liked it though, worth checking out if you're looking for something completely original and frightening.

Katie R (nl) wrote: Not one of Lang's best, but still an enjoyable mild noir. Stanwyck, as always, gives a wonderful performance, and Paul Douglas (who I just adore) really shines. It has an interesting atmosphere.

Vincent A (au) wrote: Beautiful aesthetics but the story drags. Still had a blast watching it though!

Hoyee L (nl) wrote: This movie is awesome to say the least. It has a lot of twists and turns.

Don S (ag) wrote: Early Chan action movie with very little plot and lots of bad dubbing. The martial arts scenes are very good as you'd expect, but the rest of this is low-grade kung-fu movie stuff. Tries hard to be funny, but just makes a fool of itself.
