Ranny L (de) wrote: This animation is adventurous with specks of comedy and laughter throughout the film. It's an enjoyable film to watch. The Shane Gang is back and they now have the power and talents of five Slugslingers. With new member Junjie, they discover that they and their world are in deep trouble. The Elemental Slugs are being corrupted by an evil force and the only way to stop them is to gather up all of the 5 elementals, before it's too late.Surprisingly, I really enjoy this movie with having all the Elementals coming together for a common cause. The aspect of the film that I love the most is that you never know what's going to happen next and it keeps you guessing. The action and anticipation makes it great especially when watching the fighting scenes. The film keeps moving at a good pace. It has lots of colors, but it is dark at times. The comedy keeps the film light and it never stays very serious for too long. Speaking of comedy, my favorite character is Pronto (Lee Tockar, voice), because he's funny and he's definitely the goof of the group. He is doing things that you wouldn't think that he would do.Other voice actors include Sam Vincent (Eli Shane), Shannon Chan-Kent (Trixie) and Andrew Francis (Kord Zane). They all have high energy and are true to their on screen characters. The interaction between all of the slugs is great. Director, Johnny Darrel, is no stranger to adventurous animations, he also directed Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5 (2009), Spider-Man (2003) and Heavy Gear: The Animated Series (2001). Trust people who have proven they can be trusted and who's good for you is one great message in this film. Trust is earned and not just given away. I recommend Slugterra: Return of the Elementals for ages 8 to 14. It's a film that's perfect for a family movie night. Kids who love being courage and animation, this is your film. I give this film 4 out of 5 five stars because it interests me, it's adventurous and funny at times. I love the message about trusting. Slugterra: Return of the Elementals is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray. So please check it out.Reviewed by Brianna B. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. For more youth reviews, go to kidsfirst dot org.
Kurt W (nl) wrote: I enjoy films like this. I love the way they are shot, the stilted acting, the small town locations shot to look as though they are taking place in a larger location; usually films like this feature unknown actors but this film has genre staples Gary Busey and Michael madsen. Gary Busey has to be one of my favorite actors, and his perfomrance in this film does not disappoint. Busey plays a journalist named Keece who goes into deep cover when he writes his articles. In the past he became an alcoholic in order to get in experience what he was writing about. Now he has stumbled upon a serial killer who wants him to help write his memoirs. Madsen plays a homicide detective with a personal stake in the capture of the killer. There is a certain rainy-day quality to films like this one. And luckily there is really no shortage of them. This isn't to say that I indescrimnately enjoy bad film, because this in no way is really a bad film, rather, I think of it as a film with an accidental mood. Created sort of synergystically by low production values and amateurish acting. McLuhan said that in the future everyone would be an amatuer, Diary of a Serial Killer proves it.
Phil H (jp) wrote: Charles Band continues with his Full Moon movies of which some are cult classics and quite good where as this is unfortunately not too good. I mean really....its about an evil haunted bong that kills people when they get high from puffing on it, but do they die?. Not overly sure if they do according to the end but does it really matter?Unsure how Band got this made really, nothing here to recommend unless you like a tiny show of soft porn in the form of boobies, not too much I might add. On another note its nice to see tiny cameos from other Full Moon movie characters such as 'Jack Deth' 'Gingerbread Man' 'Ooga Booga' 'Ivan Burroughs' and 'Jack Attack', totally pointless but I always liked how Band films are all linked together...sort of.I say linked together but really its just a lame attempt to get hardcore fans interested, keep them happy and distracted from the cheap mess they're watching. There are sequels to this but I don't think I'll be bothering.

Private U (it) wrote: No real complaints but it feels lacking somehow. Part of me couldn't decide if I liked or disliked any of the characters, and in the end I think I just couldn't relate to any of them. Everyone just seems to be absurdly floundering through life with occasional tangents into "missing businessman" plot.
