Matthew C (gb) wrote: Batman Forever is a movie that doesn't understand it's source material. Gotham City is bright and colorful when it should be dark, Two Face feels like the Joker from the 1960's Batman show. Batman Forever feels like a cheesy cartoon instead of a dark adaption. On a positive note Val Kilmer is good as Batman, but the film around him fails on many levels.

Goofy to the extreme with cheesy special effects and even cheesier dialogue. Add to this the presence of Sybil Danning and her outfits and what you get is a fun adventure for the kid in all of us.
Dave R (us) wrote: this is a movie that tells a really interesting story but lacks the "flash" that other war movies may have. it has the typical cross-section of characters but it does a better job and presenting the wrong-headedness of the usa's conducting of the war. it's set in the same time period that john wayne's pro-war "the green berets" was set but plainly confronts the futility of fighting what was essentially a civil war that resulted after colonial power france tried to fight its way back into the area after WW2 and lost.

Allan C (ru) wrote: Terrific thriller from director/producer Otto Preminger. I'd never seen this film before and never realized how much the Jodie Foster thriller "Flightplan" borrowed from this. Carol Lynley is an American recently moved to London with her daughter, Bunny. When she goes missing from her first day at preschool, no one at the school remembers ever seeing Bunny and when Lynley can't actually prove her daughter's existence, the police begin to suspect that Bunny is figment of Lynley's imagination. It's an intriguing premiss and Preminger milks it for all it's worth with some terrifically suspenseful scenes, particularly the finale. Keir Dullea plays Lynley's brother and Laurence Olivier plays the lead police detective.
