As soon as the actions of General "Buck" Turgidson are discovered, a war room full of politicians, generals and a Russian diplomat all frantically try to stop the nuclear strike. Near the end is a scene that is probably the most uniquely unforgettable performance of Slim Pickens in his movie career. Peter Sellers plays multiple roles in this film.

This is sort of a pastiche of 80's John Hughes coming of age rom coms fused with a Wonder Years style voice over. Funny in places, enjoyable. A great suprising turn from Catherine Hicks and Keri Russell looks lovely in every single scene and you can well understand why the protaganist is in love with her.

Obviously, they're the master filmmakers of this bunch, but they actually use their short films to make something stylistically original as opposed to the first two that really feel like they had a concept in mind with no clear direction on how to execute it.

(gb) wrote: It is amazingly funny and well-directed, some dead-set funny lines and a well-acted and made script. Definitely Sonnenfeld's best work, an adventure, comedy, sci-fi and action movie put together. It is without doubt, a must-see movie before you die.
(fr) wrote: Why does this film even exist? I need to know what was on the creators' minds, how did this idea jump up in their head. Was it to attract the strictly boy-audience, cause it sure did that. There are some nice messages in there, but they are all lost in the visuals. The visuals were stunning, don't get me wrong, computer animation is doing wonders, but living cars? Seriously? With no explanation whatsoever? I don't know, I guess a younger audience falls for this kind of stuff and I undertsand it must be fine for its target audience, but honeslty I can't look past the ridiculousness of it all. Judging by the fact that this became a franchise of its own, no one will care about the haters, so yeah, I'm gonna weep in silence, thinking of Pixar's and Disney's glorious days!
