Joel A (us) wrote: An intense but thrilling portrayal of local scot Renton (Ewan McGregor) & his desperate attempt to get off Heroin. He seems to be able to shake it for a season but his friends keep roping him in.Filled with many unforgettable scenes & such clever & realistic dialogue. But it is truly Robert Carlyle who steals the show as Renton's most violent & potent friend who doesn't touch the needle since the drug of violence is enough for him. This is a heavy watch but it's wildly entertaining & is a real journey on screen, not for the faint hearted but an incredible film.

Kevin M W (au) wrote: They made this in Britain?!? Yes, it's hard to believe, but somehow the Brits got their ducks in a row and turned out this big, rich, snazzy product of such high quality (and without a lot of talking, their national strongpoint) that you'll be left wondering. The music is highly contagious, the performances (except for young Olivier himself) very strong, and everything else is simply very well done. Standouts include Ron Moody, Oliver Reed, and the undeniable Jack Wild.

However, there's a war on, and the British Navy conscripts him, making him a lookout man on a lonely island. Things go from bad to worse when he gets stuck with a Beautiful but stiff French woman and her schoolgirl wards. The usual witty wordplay from Grant, gorgeous scenery, and a solid story make this another classic. A must for Grant fans, and just a good, all around movie.

La regia della Bigelow mi ha colpito molto, anche se a tratti l'ambientazione circostante non viene mai contestualizzata le riprese restano comunque solide e mai rovinate da eccessivi tagli come spesso capita.
