(fr) wrote: A somewhat odd and surreal movie, pondering on the cruelties of war. I went to see it because of Sylvie Testud.
(br) wrote: Nothing really happened! It's a film about nothing in particular - he retires, his wife dies & his daughter gets married - all pretty usual occurrences! I didn't find anything moving or too original in this at all, which is a shame, since Nicholson is not bad in it, it's just a 2 hour long film of no particular consequence.

(fr) wrote: The best part of this movie occurs after the girls break out of jail and have to survive the Amazon jungle. Before that, it(TM)s just typical steamy sexploitation. There(TM)s potential for a really good re-make here.
(de) wrote: A intense and emotional struggle between the political left and right. One of the first and most important film in the political genre. The leading fascist regime is pulling it's strings in the composition of a left-wing-leaders murder. Great cast and the serious french 60s movie-feeling.
(es) wrote: An honestly average but still captivating historical drama about one of Vermeers most if not the most recognized piece of art. It never quite does anything that sets it apart from other historical dramas as it follows a similar pace an chacarcter presentation, but it is precisely the reason why uit shouldnt be disregarded. The acting is pretty good, the characters are well presented, and the story, while not entirely well paced and crafted, is satysfying andf entretaining.
(jp) wrote: Very crude, surreal war movie that's not actually about the war, but the aftermath of somebody obliterated by the horrors of war. It explores the absolutely worst-case scenario of being alive by not having any senses whatsoever, and just how that person manages to cope by living with their thoughts and dreams. The bizarre dream sequences and flashbacks really add to the protagonist's plight and state of mind, and although the some parts of the movie really feel dated, it actually contributes to the trippy nature of the film.
