Borhan K (fr) wrote: In Lieu of Flowers is a romantic drama about love loss and how we deal with both these subjects.Basically 2 young people through their loss and there group therapy about loss find each other and start to have a relationship. They both have so much issues it gets in the way of them trying to start something. This reminds me of Sidewalks of New York but a B-grade version of that. It's not bad but average. I would say it does manage to tell the story in such a small time frame with a small budget.THe subject matter is very much adult and this is the audience that should watch this. There is no crescendo its pretty flatline but does have an ending whether you approve the ending or not is up to you it has an ending.Ohh by the way don't be fooled Melissa Rauch plays a role for 5 minutes and is not really vital for the story line. Although I like her the role is less than a supporting role.

Cynthia S (jp) wrote: Ok, I really liked this even though at times it seemed like a German version of a made-for-tv movie. I also am having a hard time believing everything that happened to him, like the part with the beautiful eskimo woman. But, all in all, it was really good. I got chills during the very last scene.

Gregory C (es) wrote: this is an interesting but ultimately kind of despicable film that manages to show all all the pomp and swagger of the pimp life while mostly sidestepping the hard fact that pimps are, at their core, human traffickers of the most common order.

William M (us) wrote: The animation may be outdated but this visually stunning, emotionally gripping masterwork animation film is simply one of the best, if not the best animated film of the 70s. The story is quite the same in the beginning but takes a twist of a turn when Jack scurries up the Beanstalk. We have a princess who floats on clouds, enchanted by an evil witch's spell who wants to pawn her son, the giant, to marry the princess so she can rule the castle in the clouds. The princess inhales a 'magic potion' the witch makes her take in order to stay in the catataonic state she is in,--yes, her eyes are dialated. The songs are pretty much hit or miss, with only a couple misses--jack's songs. They're very disney-esque and simplistic in their writing. The rest, are brilliant though. "Miracles Will Happen" (sung by the Beanstalk), "Silent Moon" (sung by Crosby, Jack's Dog) and "Are you Happy?" (sung by the Preist) are all very haunting, melodic, and somewhat depressing lyrically. I really empathize with the characters in this film. We even feel sorry for Tulip, the Giant at times. The real villian in the film is the witch, Hecuba. There's not an ounce of good in her and that's what makes her a classic animated villian. The aspect that works best about the film is it's score and songs. The score is VERY reminscent of Pink Floyd music, and the entire film has a VERY trippy feel to it. For example, when Jack climbs the Beanstalk the clouds start turning pink, purple and he stares in awe as if he's in an acid trip all on his own as the score plays. Aside from the Princess's eyes being dialated at all times due to her "medication" the Dog has hallucinations at times that have nothing to do with the film really. I'm not sure if the makers of this film were on drugs when they made it but whatever they were on I'm glad, because it's spectacular. If you like animated films, or espeically anime, you should definitely check this out. If you like musicals, you should check it out. If you like the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and have always wondered how it would be like with a darker twist, you should check it out. I'd even go to say if you enjoy movies period: see this film. It may not be a film for everyone, but for people that appreciate animation musical films, trippy or dark films, then this is right up your alley.

Dave L (nl) wrote: This a very good war time espionage drama held amid the Atlantic ocean. Yule Brunner and Marlon Brandon are superfluous in their roles. Brunner as the dutiful ships Captain and Brandon as the coerced British spy posing as an SS officer. There are some cracking scenes and one tracking shot in particular to rival Goodfellas. Not to be missed

Tim G (ag) wrote: Plot: On her deathbed, a mother makes her son promise never to get married, which scars him with psychological blocks to a commitment with his girlfriend. James Caan plays a romantic gangster in this film, totally unlike the madman, 'Sonny' he played in "The Godfather". This is a funny movie.

Karthik C (es) wrote: Out of Time benefits from Denzel Washington's presence on the screen and a stylish taking, but by the end of the movie, you'll feel that something is amiss. Despite some flaws and artificiality, it definitely is an enjoyable ride. Worth watching.

Andy C (de) wrote: It's a 90s JCVD action film with time travel - you're in for a ridiculous yet oddly entertaining time.
