Michael R (fr) wrote: Come on people, this is an awesome movie. Sending people who hate science fiction to review it is the only way you could get reviews like some of these. Best thing I have seen in ages.

Mike C (gb) wrote: For all those film's horrible failings - and there are plenty - I think it can still be poignant. Way too much cliche, convenient un-reality, and preaching, but a tragic tale is still told. Not the terminally ill boy; these things happen and there's only so much we can do. The girl, on the other hand, is a victim of what this world can do to people. Thrown into a superficial world, she loses what she was. SPOILER - and I hope at the end he didn't truly get his wish. Not only is that super-unrealistic, but it would be just one more stage where her beauty is used as a tool.

Steve W (gb) wrote: Strong performances and characters make for an absorbing drama film. its a bit ambiguous, which is normal for Kenneth Lonergan films. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

ScubaSteve Walter M (fr) wrote: A fresh war movie that tells bravery before the war.

Max M (au) wrote: A pretty poorly executed film (which was no fault of the usually brilliant director Sam Fuller - the picture's shyster producers took the picture away from him and butchered Fuller's intended vision) about a down-on-his-luck gunrunner in the Sudan (played by Burt Reynolds) who gets hired on by a shady American to help dive for sunken treasure in shark-infested waters.Besides Fuller having disowned this picture (he had nothing but venomous and unkind words to say about the entire experience in his autobiography), this film is remembered mostly for the fact that a stunt man was actually attacked and killed by a shark while the cameras rolled.Only for die-hard Fuller fans (like myself) whose curiosity gets the best of them.(Also, the print used for this DVD is GOD-AWFUL - it is faded, scratched and battered to the point that some of the scenes are rendered unwatchable)

Andrew L (ca) wrote: All modern vampire/cult films owe this movie a debt of gratitude. "Nosferatu" is eerie, gothic inspired masterpiece with a great performance from Max Shrek.

Jim F (de) wrote: Not reading the book had no impact on my enjoyment of this film. Probably wouldn't have liked it had I done so. 1st glance I was getting the Love Actually mob. I was expecting Bill Neighy to make an appearance. I like Ewan McGregor's Asperger's character. Not so sure about the Kristin Scott Thomas's Cruela DeVille character. OTT. I found it very clich that once in Yemen we are immediately given a sinister portrayal of the people that want to harm the sheikh, who in my opinion was the highlight for me in this film. Even surpassing the beautiful Emily Blunt. He was so deep and charming the way only a prince could be.

Barney o (ag) wrote: WHAT I LIKED: This is one of those movies where you sit there super-engaged and on the edge of your seat, then you take a moment out and look at yourself. What the heck am I watching? Well, you're actually watching a really great movie unfold, where the action and character-dynamics dwarf many true spy-action thrillers, whilst the sheer hilarity of every situation seems to mock those competitors all at the same time. It's hilarious, but much like Feig's Bridesmaids, it's also a really great story, and that's what engages you in the fist place.WHAT I DIDNT LIKE: 'Spy' may have just done all that great stuff a teeny bit better...VERDICT: This movie is hilarious, but like all of Feig and McCarthy's great work, it's got real story too.
