Steve S (au) wrote: It is always great to see what talented writers and directors can do with a shoestring budget. This film was only $100k and had a cast that doesn't have ANY film credit but the movie is a great story, well shot and surprisingly unformulaic. Well worth the time to see the other side of the illegal immigration and drug trafficking issue from the perspective of a border rancher and the toll it takes. SUPPORT THE ARROYO!

Todd S (au) wrote: For some odd reason I like things that take place on deserted islands. J.J. Abrams has showed us that there are so many ways to go and that the possibilities are endless, but to be honest I didn't expect much from this film. As it turns out, Haylie Duff isn't a bad actress and Fear Island wasn't a bad movie! This film was exciting, engaging, smart, and pretty well written. Many parts of the story, especially the ending were predictable; however it was still a great story. Fear Island is one of those movies you watch because it appears in your instant recommendations and there isn't anything else to watch, so you give it a chance, and what you find is that it's actually a pretty worthwhile film.

Manesh S (br) wrote: 20+ years ago, Mira Nair dedicated a movie for the homeless children in the streets of Bombay which was outright realistic n less-cheesy to the much hyped Slumdog Millionaire. I would say this was a toughest movie to direct. Dark n gritty set, realistic characterization and the endless emotional quotient. A powerful debut from Mira Nair. Great Watch
Alexei G (mx) wrote: This is a movie that I honestly don't get what people see in it. I felt the movie was largely unconvincing, especially in terms of the violence. It's as though the movie would rather stutter in the middle of a scene of violent killing rather than show us the act in a more convincing manner. In all honesty, I feel the movie hard to enjoy because it's one of those horror films that promotes the superstitious attitudes of the characters within it, and this makes the characters hard for me to sympathize. Most of the characters are either forgettable or worse, and characters I almost end up sympathizing with quickly degenerate into either monsters or idiots. Ultimately the film is another one of those films that fails to make superstition horrifying and in making decent entertainment of it.

Meredith W (nl) wrote: "Grosse Pointe Blank" is funny, clever, action-packed and has a great eighties soundtrack. John Cusack plays Martin Blank, a professional hit-man who is at the crossroads of that decision. In true John Cusack style, it is a quirky movie which is thoroughly enjoyable with its uncommon blend of humour and violence.
Serge L (br) wrote: The film being old makes quite a bit of it more understandable. The whole is quite not believable, so the story appears gratuitous although somewhat fun at times. Disgusting other times. Found one touching scene near the end.
