Edward Said: The Last Interview

Edward Said: The Last Interview

Prominent Columbia University English and Comparative Literature professor Edward Said was well known in the United States for his tireless efforts to convey the plight of the Palestinian people, and in this film shot less than a year before his death resulting from incurable leukemia, the author of such books as {-Orientalism}, {-Culture and Imperialism}, and {-Power, Politics, and Culture} discusses with filmmakers his illness, his life, his education, and the continuing turmoil in Palestine. Diagnosed with the disease in 1991, Said struggled with his leukemia throughout the 1990s before refraining from interviews due to his increasingly fragile physical state. This interview was the one sole exception to his staunch "no interview" policy, and provides fascinating insight into the mind of the man who became Western society's most prominent spokesman for the Palestinian cause.

Timothy G (de) wrote: Not bad. Had some exciting moments and decent characters. Funny this is, the plot is relatively believable.

Karsh D (br) wrote: Relationship based drama which has quite a good storyline and ties up some loose ends nicely towards the end.

Grant T (jp) wrote: Criticized for resembling the omen and the sixth sense, Godsend nonetheless provides a few good chills and a great cast

Christopher E (jp) wrote: Not lock stock, but in the same league!

Alpesh J (mx) wrote: Movie you can watch over and over must see. Brad pitt was funny went from pretty boy to real actor. Great character development and story telling.

Cayli L (fr) wrote: I liked the historical part but it was pretty boring and the acting and special effects weren't that great. I prefer the VeggieTales version of Maewyn Succat.

Shelly l (us) wrote: I love the story so much........very claustrophobic film in which there is no men and everything is indoors, the final massacre is so well done, you kind of want them to kill .............

Ken S (mx) wrote: "Night on Earth" is another anthology film from Jim Jarmusch, much like "Mystery Train" before it, and the collection of shorts that eventually became "Coffee & Cigarettes". For what its worth this film is great, featuring five stories about nighttime taxi drivers in five different cities throughout the planet...and surprisingly all five stories are good, such a rarity for an anthology film. The film hits all of it's notes perfectly, whether they are funny or sad. Quite good.

Ryan V (ca) wrote: Beat Street is about a group of teens who are trying to find their way in the big city. While the tribulations of a graffiti artist (John Chardiet) are more poignant than one would assume, the real point of this film is to serve as a showcase for New York's thriving hip hop scene. The movie is well seasoned with cameos and musical numbers by old school luminaries such as Grandmaster Melle Mel, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc, Doug E. Fresh, The Treacherous Three, Jazzy Jay, and The Rock Steady Crew. The storytelling in this film isn't really all that remarkable, but Beat Street is still a must-see for any fan of rap music.

Stacy G (es) wrote: A fun creature feature. The effects are great. The Alligator rampage scenes are fun and up there with the best creature feature scenes. The story is a little silly but that is not why one would watch a film about a 35 foot alligator.

Thomas B (br) wrote: The Hitchcock parodies are expertly put together and features a hilarious performance at its core from Mel Brooks himself. Full review later.

Bill B (au) wrote: Gave the Blu of this a look when it was released as part of the Shout! Factory collection of Roger Corman films and was stunned to realize that I had never seen it before. I have no idea what film I was confusing this with from my youth, but I had somehow thought this was a cop drama, not a post apocalyptic tale involving giant armored RV type vehicles. It's a fun watch and I particularly enjoy the on again off again indications of how fucked things are, as the weird colors in the sky come and go somewhat conveniently when they are involved in other things.Give it a rental.
