Taking the premise of rear window and applying it to a somewhat different situation keeps the film fresh and intriguing. Great performances from all involved, make this incredibly tense in parts.

The story plays out like 'Speed'...if you took Sandra Bullock's character and chained her to a hot dog stand... Skip this one and watch 'Phone Booth', instead. Similar concept, less 'sucks'.

The plot is fine if a little dry and slow in places, but the ending twist is just not good enough, too far-fetched. Gore fans won't be much impressed either, especially if it is the tame version I saw, but the film is well made and the actors do their best with the lines they've got. I'd say it's just about worth watching, but your probably better off watching a 1980's slasher instead.

I think that the casting of the children fell short. Some of the characters looked a bit older than children. However, good film to watch with a younger audience.

Michael V (gb) wrote: Samething I said about the first Fletch movie. If it was anyone else playing Fletch it wouldn't have been a good movie. But Chevy Chase is brillant when it comes to humor like this. I admit, the movie is stupid, but that is wholly what I love about it. Sure, if you want a more realistic mystery story, watch the first one. But for purely enjoying Chevy Chase's ridiculous antics, this one surpasses it. I can't imagine any other actor who could have pulled this script off and made it anything worthwhile. I think the best part about Chevy Chase as Fletch, is that he lives out those crazy ideas we sometimes get (such as convincing someone of invisible squealing bugs (greatest part of the movie by the way), simply telling someone their house is on fire, and marching into a corporation like you own the place), and he gets away with it when most of us don't dare in the first place. Perhaps the people who can't enjoy him simply don't get the same temptations, and therefore can't see why he appeals to those of us who have to repress the desire to introduce yourself as a famous sixteenth-century astrologer or tell a fellow passenger on an airliner the the pilot looked safe while he parachuted out of the jet.

Donald W (au) wrote: This movie was based on a book written by Gypsy Rose Lee. In the book Gypsy Rose Lee is the main character. It's a graphic behind the scenes story of Burlesque theaters. It's fiction and is a typical 1940's pulp fiction mystery story. In the movie they changed the name of the main character and had to tone down the behind the scenes depictions because of the movie censors of the time. They added singing and music that wasn't in a Burlesque show but made the movie more entertaining. In real Burlesque the strippers stripped down to g-strings and pasties. In this movie they wear very elaborate costumes that would never be considered risqu. You never actually see any of the actresses wearing a g-string. They had comedians doing the actual comedy skits from Burlesque without the dirty jokes. The murder mystery in the movie turned out to be really tame with a Scooby Doo ending. Surprise, it was the old man. Burlesque died with television and Rock and Roll. The Burlesque strippers got old. Young people's taste in music changed and then in the 1960's and 1970's the courts overturned the laws against nude entertainment. Adult entertainment moved out of the old theaters and into bars where the customers could get up close to the nude go-go dancers dancing to Rock and Roll music. Comedians moved to TV and comedy clubs.

Michael C (jp) wrote: Absolutely disgusting and terribly done dialouge, plot, and story. You're literally watching a modern hollywood version of The Boy Who Cried Wold starring an "independent" strong female lead. Just look at her face in the trailer icon. This movie is nothing more than a shallow anthill in a murky puddle. You keep waiting and waiting hoping for the real blockbuster hollywood effects to kick in and they never do. All this movie leaves you with is nausea and tasteless camera shake. There are no earthquakes. There are no special effects. Just a twitchy cameraman shaking the hell out of his equipment. Terrible acting. Terrible dialouge, and terrible movie. Don't waste your time.

Grant K (it) wrote: Although it's ultra low budget requires patience, the tension rises from mild inconvenience to absolute terror. Goldthwait is a master storyteller and finds a new niche in found footage horror cinema.
