Brett H (kr) wrote: A bizarre and off-the-beaten path romance film that is the precursor to the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon and is further evidence that E. L James has no original ideas in her head; the male character's name in this film is Mr. Grey for Christ's sake! There's a few ways to look at this story of office-life, S&M, with Maggie Gyllenhaal's character being a recently released mental patient that either gets taken advantage of or truly likes the physical treatment; and the film walks a fine line between and never spells everything out. James Spader is pretty great as the dominant who is constantly conflicted with his feelings and actions, but is just as nervous as Gyllenhaal's character. There is an underlying sense of humour about the whole affair and watching these two court one another is seat-squirming awkward comedy that just gets funnier as they get more desperate. There are some shocking scenes of sexuality that seemingly come out of nowhere, but they're what you'd expect from a film of this type. Definitely not perfect and the climax was a tad underwhelming, but Secretary is still a fun piece of escapism and much more intelligent than other films in the genre.

Tara H (fr) wrote: The first half of this movie is very good. Clark Gable and Carole Lombard - who would later become one of Hollywood's most glamorous couples - worked together for the first, and sadly only time. Their chemistry is great, as is the supporting cast. Unfortunately, 'No Man of Her Own' reverts from energetic comedy to being a rather conventional romance in the second half, and the ending is rather abrupt.
Bill B (mx) wrote: Super-average horror, whose only novelty for me was it being set in a Scottish location and the presence of James Nesbitt. I enoyed it well enough at times, but the CGI gets pretty rough at times and kills a lot of enthusiasm I might've had for things.Rental?

Humberto F (de) wrote: Atypical Western is filled with mood and crackling dialogue that keeps you coming back for another listen. Bronson leads a list of Western stalwarts in a spooky hunt for the titular white buffalo (designed by Carlo Rambaldi) that is part Western, part horror movie, with some potent psychological undertones. Bronson turns in a stellar turn as the driven Wild Bill Hickok, with able support from Jack Warden. John Barry's score adds plenty of atmosphere. The movie's weird mystical vibe may turn off most general Western fans, but for those looking for a little something different, this movie is worth checking out.
