This is a short film - it's actually an hour-long installment from the PBS series Masterpiece Contemporary - and told largely in poetic monologue from the perspective of Alan Rickman's unnamed character as he and his ex-lover (Emma Thompson) reunite for lunch fifteen years after their break-up.This is a delicious example of what can happen when you mix good writing with talented actors such as Rickman and Thompson. It is a wonderfully controlled and understated film that's peppered with the most minute details (the sound of glasses clinking; the way she chews her food) -- all of which bring their lunch to life. I also enjoy the transition Rickman's character makes, as it allows us to better appreciate what these two people were like fifteen years ago, and where they've been since then.
Dean M (fr) wrote: It's not a bad Taiwan rip-off of The Mummy and Indiana Jones film. I was still entertained by cheesy fight scenes and action-packed story. Now, the story is nothing much to mention and time of the story is weird. First, they are in the dessert and another scene shows them in a modern city. Unless they are jumpers, it is impossible but in a story. The action (some are a bit sloppy) is not great by any means but it is entertaining. The acting is not that good. Jay Chou, I don't even know how he got into the movie with his one and only expression. Chiling Lin, the female main character, is a disappointment.

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews if your not into musicals, dance, or chick- flicks then not sure what you were expecting... i thought it was better than i expected so i enjoyed the movie.

Martin T (es) wrote: The structure is a series of brief episodes, in a rather unchronological order during the first half, and more linear in the second. It's an intriguing set-up but the subject matter is so familiar that it doesn't feel as fresh as it should. What stands out more is the use of music, as these folks are constantly entertaining each other or getting their minds off some unpleasant business by belting out a tune. All in all, it didn't knock my socks off, but it's a good film with strong performances.

It's really balls-to-the-walls film, not one that you everyday, but that's what makes it one of the best pics ever in cinema history. Recommended !!

It's an amazing twist on the classic novel Traesure island and in fact, I prefer this adaptation over the novel as I found it quite boring when I read it as a child.
