(us) wrote: Mediocre at best. Enjoyable viewing to perhaps the less academically gifted, alcoholics on denial, or young non-nerdy teenagers. Personally, I found this movie barely tolerable.
(es) wrote: Great Suspense & cinema photography! Beautiful Film in this regard.
(nl) wrote: Independent film. I enjoyed the story. The action or directing could be better. I don't feel any energy or sincerity in the characters.
(jp) wrote: The title of the movie was the best thing by far about this movie. The movie itself was just okay, it had all the basics of most b-movies, nudity, violence, sexy ladies, and some good jokes. To be honest it actually surprised, I thought it was going to be terrible, but it was watchable.

The film is very beautifully stylized to a lavish degree with very well choreographed action sequences and an intriguing storyline that offers a different take on China's period of the warring states about 2,200 years ago just before it became unified as one massive country. This is one of those films that I just had to own! The director Yimou Zhang was best known for his critically-acclaimed dramatic works of the 90s and so "Hero" was his first attempt at an action film. He did an incredible job for his first project of this kind.
(it) wrote: Chariots of Fire is a well made film with good directing and great acting. The musical score is the best part of the film and this is an entertaining film with lots of great British actors, with the stand out being Ian Holm. The problem is this is a very slow paced film and it does get quite boring at times, also this isn't a very memorable movie. While the opening scene is an iconic scene in all of cinema the rest of this film is very forgettable. I don't hate this movie, it's a good movie with some tense running scene but this is an overrated movie that didn't deserve to win best picture at the oscars over Raiders of the Lost Ark. Chariots of Fire is a good film with some great elements but is overall very forgettable and fairly overrated. B

(fr) wrote: A soldier goes AWOL and then meets and falls in love with a girl at a port but unfortunately he also meets a bunch of unsavory characters as well. I don't know if this French film qualifies as a film noir but it sure felt like it. The film has some twist and turns with great performances by the three leads especially Michel Simon who was just wonderfully creepy.
