Marischa B (nl) wrote: Having seen the first Cabin Fever, which I really liked (it showcased Eli Roths talent for sick and twisted horror comedy, so to speak), I kinda had hoped this could be better. But even before watching the movie, I heard the "director" Ti West, distancing himself from this movie (at a Festival, where I didn't have another option/movie to choose from, that's why I chose to watch this anyway, despite the warning)!!!He didn't like the movie and he didn't cut it together (there are also some additional scenes shot and edited into the movie, especially the ending) and he also said, that people might like it or hate it, but either way, he is not responsible for what people will think of the movie ...Having said that, I for once thought it was dreadful. Almost every "funny" line doesn't work, the chemistry between the two best friends is off, not to mention that the American Pie style thing just doesn't work. Unfortunately the main character isn't as good in his role as he could have been (you might have seen him in "Dead Girl" where he is phenomenal). There is also a side story that is really bad (it's supposed to be funny, but it just isn't).Some gory moments and a few actually not that bad one liners can't save this mess of a movie. There are movies out there, that are worse, but this still has got quite a few things wrong. If you want to see a good Ti West movie, watch his House of the Devil instead ...

The Live Satirist DVD was a vailiable at the library and I gave it a shot and holy shit this guy`s good. Relentless in particularily was great. Sane man was funnier but relentless struck a chord with me a little more. It had dick jokes, smart jokes, rants and some clean jokes...it had everything. Moths on the way to the sun, Playing from one`s fucking heart, the woes of oral sex and all the Yul Breyner and Jim Fixx you can handle. I was in stitches by the end of it although many jokes i`d already heard from Sane Man and he was more angry than funny but he went full out and tore it up. So far, I`ve not yet seen Revelations yet since my computer`s DVD player is on the fritz...fuck...but once I figure out how to disconnect the VHS and hook up my DVD player under the mess I have on my desk I`ll do it up like it`s never been done before...up I`d HIGHLY reccommend it for lots of laughs and several sets of soaked pants.

It picks up not too far after the events of the 4th film with an unfortunate re-cast of Kristen (Patricia Arquette was pregnant at the time of filming) rearing it's ugly head with a less-than-stellar replacement, Tuesday Knight. After Freddy is finished dispatching the survivors from the previous film, we're introduced to brand new characters who weren't part of the Elm Street kids, but Freddy is after them anyway for...reasons. This film was directed by somewhat hack filmmaker, Renny Harlin who does a good job with the dream sequences/kills but his directing of the actors needed work. The way they dispatch of Freddy this time around comes completely out of nowhere where they use his reflection to then have the souls inside him tear him apart; problem is he's appeared in mirrors, TVs, etc. before, so the continuity is out the window, but the special effects for this scene are amazing! The main reason to watch these movies is for Robert Englund's performance and he kills it again here, dawning his quippy, one-liner act in this film and onward. Not a highmark for the series, but it's not a bad watch if you're marathoning the series.

Charles Bronson is as good as he's ever been, raging a one man war on the police and the mafia. It is the movie that Walking Tall wishes it could be and in many ways it is one of the better 70s action movies.
