Elizabeth torrent reviews

Kevin V (it) wrote: It's a harsh story and the animation is just as harsh. It may leave a bad taste in your mouth, but it does a fantastic job of telling a multi-layered, pseudo-noir story without a word of dialogue. It may not be perfect, but it's an accomplishment for sure.

Samuel S (gb) wrote: David Ayer has gone on to do better things with the likes of end of watch and fury but for his directorial debut Harsh Times is a decent watch. The movie focuses on 2 best friends trying to get their acts together and can be strong at points but there are definitely more weak scenes than there are strong.

Alexander C (kr) wrote: An exceptional performance from Jodie Foster. Human upbringing in an unusual story. Based on a true story i believe. This film is an intelligent examination of a layed back doctor (Charismatic Liam Neeson) and his discovery of Nell (Oscar nominated Jodie Foster), a woman who was raised in the forest with no human relations except her speech-impaired mum. Its a story of emotion, of acceptance, and above all humility and love. Repeated viewing definately makes you appreciate all the little details in this, will make you cry, make you smile, make you in awe of Jodie Foster and her acting talent. Also Liam Neeson is easy to warm up to as the caring doctor. This truly is a film not to be missed, still watching it last night again makes me realise that this is an undeniable underrated classic. Deserves praise and credit where credits due. So innocent theres a few memorable scenes in this that warm the soul. Nell is the epitome of innocence, being brought up by a speech inpaired mother is a factor. But her child like ways, joy and trusting nature is a pleasure to take in. I didn't like the young men in the bar taking advantage of her as she imitated them. Was glad Liam Neeson intervened, he plays a good man in this. Wonderfully directed and superb acting not to be missed on any account.

Roger P (de) wrote: "Sleep My Love" is an entertaining thriller that was made over 60 years ago. It is well-acted by a strong cast. OK - there are some holes and some absurdities in the plot. And the story itself is not the most original - it resembles that of the stage play "Gaslight" (written by one of my favourite writers, Patrick Hamilton), which was filmed earlier with Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman in the leading roles. Claudette Colbert plays a wealthy New York woman whose husband, played by Don Ameche, is trying to drive her insane and to suicide so that he can get his hands on her money and, by doing so, appease his demanding girlfriend. Robert Cummings plays a friend of a family friend who becomes suspicious of what is going on and tries to get to the bottom of things. There are snatches of humour - in the form of the somewhat daft family friend, played by Rita Johnson. The film may be undemanding but it is also atmospheric and gripping. 7/10.
