Rick C (mx) wrote: The greatest martial arts film I have seen. A terrific story of marital dysfunctional and rivalry between nations plays host to some of the most vivid, thrilling fight scenes ever filmed. Amazingly every fight scene in this film is on par with the others. Usually martial art films will have one or two stand out set pieces and smaller scenes peppered about, but in Heroes of the East each fight scene is handled with the same amount of care and attention, which is no small deal as the majority of the film is the fight scenes. Incredibly for a film that is mostly action scenes, no one dies or gets seriously injured in the entire movie. This film is about two nation's warriors learning to respect each other's technique and culture not about striking down the opponent. The marital dysfunction scenes that set the film in motion are also hugely entertaining. One scene in particular in which husband and wive throw down their country's hidden weapons on a table recalls the great Hollywood comedies of the 30s and 40s. Combining the best of both worlds Heroes of the East becomes a relentlessly entertaining, inventive masterpiece.

I know that Crumb was horrified by what the studios did to his beloved Fritz The Cat (which is why he eventually killed off the character) but I am still a Fan of those movies. I'm sorry Robert, really I am, but I thought they were good movies! This film is better! if you liked the Fritz movies, you'll love this! Extremely political, violent, and funny. Deals very intensely with Racism in the united states in the 60's and 70's. The animation is great, the use of live action footage was good, the music was amazing! I don't know what to say really. films like this are hard to discuss without getting off track. Basically this is Blaxploitation at it's finest! So if yr a fan of the genre, you'll dig this. I'd really like to see this done on a stage! anyways, watch it! it's good.

It's called "Cleanskin" because it's another term the United Kingdom give to terrorists which initially derived from the actual bombings of 2005(look it up on Wikipedia). That term is used for this film since the terrorists are law abiding UK citizens resulting them to be the least expected to participate in such acts. Anyways, Sean Bean plays an undercover agent hired indiscreetly to infiltrate the bombings before they happen for he's also been given authority to kill(sound familiar), and the agency would cover it up later by removing his DNA. Bean plays Ewan who's the best candidate to take on this task since he's lost a loved one who was a victim to a previous bombing. And to tag along with him is a partner named Mark (Tom Burke) we don't know too much about. Written and directed by Hadi Hajaig which from looking at the title "Cleanskin" I should've expected that the film also have to showcase the side of the terrorists too which is something I don't necessarily need since viewers should've already been aware about terrorists motivations in the first place- the reasons are obvious which are usually as a result of alienation, belonging and radicalism. There's hardly anything more this film has told me that I don't know myself. Apart from the unexpected twist ending a great portion of this film has already been done already and had been shown before. 2 out of 4 stars

Nick M (au) wrote: Probably the only Kristen Stewart movie I will be okay with since her acting style fits in with her role in this movie built from teen angst with a pretty good ending.
