Everybody Street

Everybody Street

Celebrated filmmaker and photographer Cheryl Dunn turns her lens on the pioneers and masters of New York street photography. Dunn profiles artists spanning six decades, including Bruce Davidson, Mary Ellen Mark, Jill Freedman, Jeff Mermelstein and Martha Cooper, revealing that these shooters are as colourful and unique as the subjects they’ve relentlessly documented. Everybody Street explores the passion that compelled Freedman to spend years riding in squad cars during the most violent years in the city; Bruce Gilden’s drive to thrust his camera in people’s faces to capture a moment; and Martha Cooper’s dedication to chasing graffiti on passing subway cars in the Bronx. The film is a definitive look at the iconic visionaries of this often imitated art form.

Tom C (kr) wrote: The amount of blood and gruesome deaths in this is absolutely perfect.

Richard L (kr) wrote: An interesting idea let down by poor pacing and lack of interesting scenes.

Scott W (us) wrote: This really was a great, independent film, even though it was more like a theater play. A single, black background set is where most of this movie took place, but what really stood out to me was the makeup, the acting, and the script. The makeup was excellent with exception to Justin's hand, which was unacceptable since it looked completely fake. The acting was good enough, and I thought the demons were spot-on perfect. The dialogue was great too, even with some of the scenes dragging. However, It's an indie horror meets romantic comedy and it pulled it off. I saw it on Netflix and if anyone has Netflix, I would definitely recommend this.

Lewis H (jp) wrote: Much irony in the determined campaign of a French "juge d'instruction" to uncover corruption in high places -- culprits are imprisoned, but the corrupt system mutates and survives. Clever, but not for everyone. The film does not translate well.

Serge L (au) wrote: Decent storyline, complex enough to keep us guessing. The first half is a bit too easy though and it becomes more interesting when the film tries to lose us. Many things in this film, I liked a lot. Bullet wounds looking real and bloody. The little girl not being so easy to keep, and being inventive. Cute girls being cold blooded. Real life, what. Haha! Funny but so true.

Jonas S (ca) wrote: Finally getting around to seeing movies that were made over 20 years ago that I once intended to watch. Go me!While I love just about everything about Jennifer Jason Leigh, this movie suffers from a great deal of creative arrangement that doesn't hold up well. The character of Hedy transforms unrealistically into Peyton from The Hand that Rocks the Cradle where they did this same plot much better. Her acting worked well enough amongst the choppy writing that seemed to demand a different character from her every few moments of the film. It would almost have been better to learn that Aly and Hedy were the same person all along in a different psychological path. Speaking of Aly, she's not that interesting of a character and has plenty of her own flaws, making one wonder even after the mirror scene what makes her so interesting to others. She comes off as barely human which could have been the fault of male writers/directors misunderstanding how to represent a female properly. She just comes off bland at best with more than a little rooting for Hedy to just get rid of her and move on. After all, many of Hedy's claims about Aly, her boyfriend, etc, were not terribly off the mark. He most certainly would have cheated on Aly again at the very least. Sam(Weber)'s scenes were so far from realistic and I have to wonder how they decided that A. He didn't have anything better to say to Hedy upon her reveal to him, and B. How much time was spent deciding a quick heel to eye blow would render him dead without as much as a twitch of life? People survive close gunshot wounds to the head(sadly) and even Hedy, who's half Sam's size can take multiple severe wounds before she goes down. While some find the ending showdown to be exciting and climactic, I was left wondering scene after scene how the heck they concluded that would be how it went down. Not the least is the gunshot not attracting attention to an area where loud music brought the super to the apartment just hours before. And I've never heard of a dog jumping from a window on it's own but they never reveal that she had more to do with that, leaving that open for rather poor allusion. Ultimately, this movie didn't make me think I wasted 2 hours of my life like some have, but its choppy and rambling story left me numb and bored.

Adam E (nl) wrote: Entertaining and pretty funny overall, Another You is better (and a bit more PC lol) than Silver Streak but not quite as good as See No Evil Hear No Evil. It's good seeing the duo doing their thing one more time even if the story is a bit of a mess.

Joel A (br) wrote: A confronting & groundbreaking film about a somewhat crazy Journalist bent on getting the Pulitzer Prize by pretending to be insane to figure a mysterious murder in the asylum a few years back. The starkness of the film is undeniable & all the fascinating side characters that make up the asylum are a movie in themselves. The film has some wonderful trick effects & has such a feel of tension & unease the whole way through. It's an exhilarating film that's a memorable one.

David J (de) wrote: "Deliverance" is a serviceable and, during it's time, shocking outdoors survival thriller with a modern man vs. human instinct message that's seemingly far more contrived and shallow than the hundreds of feet deep I was told it is. And, when it comes to making mature decisions, I think the protagonists of "Deliverance" have a thing or two to learn from the kids of "Mean Creek."

Serge L (br) wrote: The film is nice, but the extras shows that the film is significantly different from the true story. The town and the mine really helped the kids all along. As a kid, I tried myself to make rockets and they were not flying high at all. I did not make a good batch of black powder, after my good batch went in flame... The footages they have of their rockets are quite impressive. The film added some drama to keep interest, otherwise, it would have been the documentary in extras. The documentary is great and depicts a lot of things in the film happened as shown. The film is a pass if you watch the extra documentary.

Fran P (ag) wrote: I enjoyed the campiness factor of this film. The creepy crawlers are not scary, they're disgusting and I think that's why this movie's comedic nature worked. I did like the simple storyline and the fact that the film makers made fun of people that live in mid-America were more droll than flat-out mean. Even though the main lead characters were not fully explored, the side characters made up for it. For instance, the mayor was interesting because he's satirical yet still somewhat likeable. Think of the film as an alien film turned into a zombie movie. Although a little more focus on the alien lifeform could have elevated this picture in a new level, it's still not bad. This movie will suit anyone who is easily disgusted. It reminded me of the 80's with films like "Dead Alive."

Sage H (gb) wrote: A good film that differentiates itself from most of Clint's other movies. It combines a great thriller, intriguing storyline, and well put together cast with some beautiful mountain climbing scenes.
