Bruno C (ag) wrote: A pretty funny, dark comedy from Colombia, what some have hailed one of the best movies to come out of the country in a long time. I had read the plot was very original and complex....which I wouldn't go that far (except for perhaps in the context of Colombian films, which might more dominated by crime films, often involving drugs), but it was an enjoyable, intelligent film, with little twists in the blackmail scheming of the characters, though I thought it got a little too predictable by the end, and also seemed like there was a Hollywood ending that left me going "huh?" since there weren't more repercussions to blackmailing schemes discovered by the underling detective. That aside, the movie had a decent story, the comedic antics worked and weren't detracting, acting was just average: a little telenovela-ish (intentional parodying I guess, given the telenovela tie-in w/ the boss's actress gf), cinematography was a little subpar, but not terrible. It's worth seeing for some light entertainment, probably more so for Spanish speakers....I was gettin' a kick out of the Colombian Spanish accent and colloquialisms!

Joel A (nl) wrote: A very low key poorly adapted thriller about a desperate mother re-connecting with her vicious, cruel & jealous grandmother. The film is genuinely tense but moves so slow in the middle it's hard to keep interest. The acting is appalling but the story does keep you guessing due to the strangeness of the characters. Quite creepy in many scenes but a good attempt but no Shinning.

Bruno V (ru) wrote: Not 2hr.24min but 3hr.40 minutes ! Way Way to long ...the first hour almost nothing happens ......then a bit interesting . It's just way to long for just a fine story...not a great story . Without De Niro i never wood have watched this ! SOMDVD
